Persianfootball.com – This week’s roundup saw several Iranian legionnaires in action, playing in Europe and Asia.

Ebrahim Loveinian came in as a substitute for F. Siswanto on the 27th minute, on Monday January 13 during his side’s Persisam Putra 3-2 defeat at the hands of Persiba Balikpapan. The match was part of Inter Island Cup and was played at Stadion Demang Lehman (Martapura) in front of 3,000 spectators.

On Tuesday January 14, Iranian International Ashkan Dejagah scored in Fullham’s 3-0 victory over Norwich City in a FA Cup match. Saturday, January 18, at Emirates Stadium in front of more than 60,000 audience, Ashkan played 68 minutes in Fullham’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Yesterday, Alireza Abbasfard made his debut in Malaysia Super League by coming on as a substitute for the Bosnian striker Muamer Salibasic who had to be streched out in the early minutes of the game. Abbasfard was heavily guarded by the defenders of ATM FA and had a rather disappointing game where he did not impress the Sarawak Crocs away fans. Sarawak lost the match 2-0.

Elsewhere in Qatar, Pejman Montazeri played the full 90 minutes in Umm Salal’s home match 2-1 victory over Al Jaish.

Unfortunately, there were some bad news this week regarding young talent Alireza Jahanbakhsh. He continues to suffer from a hamstring injury which now seems more serious than originally thought. Alireza is not expected back in action until sometime in February. As a result Jahanbakhsh missed NEC Nijmegen’s training camp which was held in Marbella this week.

The most shocking and surprising news of the week was acquisition of Team Melli’s captain, Javad Nekounam, by Kuwait SC.
