HITC – GLASGOW, Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly want the Iran World Cup star again, but Nottingham Forest could do with full-backs.

One of the most under-the-radar breakthrough stars of the 2018 World Cup could reportedly be on his way to Britain in the January transfer window.

Milad Mohammadi might have made headlines for the wrong reasons for that failed somersault throw-in during Iran’s narrow defeat to Spain in Russia, but that moment of embarrassment has seemingly not prevented Celtic from renewing their interest in a player they were keen to sign during the summer.

The Scottish Sun reports that Celtic want to secure the versatile full-back, who can play on the right or the left, on a pre-contract agreement with his deal at Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny due to expire next summer.

The report adds that Watford and Fenerbahce are interested, but could Celtic also face competition from Nottingham Forest?

Forest have, after all, signed two other Iranian internationals in 2018 alone, landing the experienced winger Ashkan Dejagah in January before swooping for prolific striker Karim Ansarifard (below) on a free transfer last week after he was released by Olympiakos.

And there is certainly room at the City Ground for a full-back like Mohammadi, who can play on either flank. Saidy Janko is only on loan from FC Porto and his form has dipped of late, while the fact that Ben Osborn is still featuring at left-back on occasions highlights Forest’s failure to reinforce a problem position.

The Scottish Sun claims that Mohammadi is aware of Celtic’s interest and is keen on a move to Britain, which puts Brendan Rodgers’ side in pole position for now.
