Actually continuing to support this team is the weakest and easiest thing to do. Putting aside a love and devotion one has had for a lifetime has been difficult.

But for 48 years we have been trying to keep our pride and joy. Tried our best to enjoy Iran including team melli. Unknowingly this also strengthened the regime as it tied it’s core into anything we love. It gave them opportunity and legitimacy.
The absolute best thing for them is that people get behind team melli which will unite Iran (thus the regime).

it’s not black and white but it is how it works.

I don't understand the reason to nuke your account to die on this hill. Even if this is what you believe that TM is all good and dandy and it doesn't matter if any of them support/love the regime that killed so many Iranians, it's easy to just not try to be a contrarian to those who feel strongly about this. Particularly Kamran who has sacrificed a lot for us to have this meeting place to discuss for several decades at this point.

Reddit and other platforms have team melli discussions that it seems are more Americanized Iranians just saying it's all a fun game, who cares. In reality, these guys are clearly in support of IR staying in charge. Jahanbakhsh knew to speak like a politician to play the middle ground, I don't know where his loyalties lie, but what Ramin, Shoja, Torabi, Beiranvand, Taremi say and behave like is that they are Hitler's favorite playtoys and they like the gifts and power he bestows upon them. Maybe they don't love the concentration camps, but they do love what the Nazis afford to them and don't want the party to fall.

Based on that, I think you can imagine why many of us are not super fond of these players being successful.
