Football League World – GLASGOW, Rangers are keen on doing a deal for Karim Ansarifard as Steven Gerrard looks to add to his squad this summer.

The Iran international only joined the Reds on a free transfer in November and struggled to establish himself as a regular under both Aitor Karanka and Martin O’Neill.

In total, the 29-year-old managed just 12 league appearances for Forest, scoring twice. However, he did impress towards the end of the season and he scored the winner against QPR in what was his final game of the campaign.

But, his future remains unclear, with Football Insider reportingthat Rangers are hopeful of bringing Ansarifard to Ibrox, although they face competition from clubs abroad.

They claim that Gerrard is impressed with the record the former Olympiacos man has in international and European football as they search for additional attacking options.

That search could speed up in the coming weeks with speculation surrounding the future of Alfredo Morelos, who has been linked with a move away from Glasgow following an impressive season in which he hit 30 goals in all competitions.

The Verdict

This would be a surprise move as Ansarifard hasn’t really done too much since arriving at the City Ground.

Despite that, he does have a good pedigree and has shown flashes of his talent for Forest, so you can understand why Rangers are interested.

They will need another striker if Morelos leaves and they would be big boots for the Forest man to fill if he did make the move up north.
