Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal Tehran defeated rock-bottom Esteghlal Khuzestan.
With three games left until the end of the season, the Ahvaz-based football team lost to Esteghlal 4-2 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Under guidance of its new head coach Farhad Majidi, Esmael Goncalves opened the scoring for the Blues in the 26thminute but Farid Amiri canceled out the goal two minutes later.
Esteghlal substitute Reza Karimi was on target in the 68th minute but Ayoub Kalantari found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 79th minute to equalize the match.
With four minutes remaining, Morteza Tabrizi scored with a header and Ali Karimi scored Esteghlal’s fourth goal in the 90thminute.
Esteghlal Kuzetan sits at the bottom of the IPL table with 12 points and have been relegated to the Azadegan League.
Sepidrood and Naft Masjed Soleyman will fight to avoid relegation.
