Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Persepolis head coach Branko Ivankovic believes that Tehran derby is the biggest derby in Asia and you can never predict the outcome.

“Tehran derby doesn’t have a specific formula to win. No matter where the two team stands or which player is in the squad the derby is always unpredictable.

“I would like to compare Friday derby with recent El Clasico, more than 90% of the people believed that Real Madrid has no chance to win in Camp Nou but Real Madris won. This time Tehran derby will be special as Persepolis will win it,” Branko said.

The Croatian coach who has recently penned a new two-year contract extension with Persepolis has great ambitions and wants to win the AFC Asian Champions League with the Reds.

“We have long term plan as I have just extended my contract. First we are going to with the League then we want to have a decent performance in Asian Champions League. As you saw last season more than 100,000 fans came to stadium for Al Nasr and Al Hilal games so we want to make these fans happy by winning the AFCChampions League in the near future,” he added.

Persepolis, who is currently in the third place in the league, will take on second-placed Esteghlal in the 26th week of Iran Professional League (IPL) on Friday at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
