Persianfootball.com – NIJMENGEN, Iranian youngster Alireza Jahanbaksh was officially presented as new NEC player in the Dutch city of Nijmengen on Friday.

A verbal agreement between the player and the Eredivisie club had been reported earlier, but administrative issues had prevented the two parties from finalizing the deal.

Now the 19-year-old winger has been issued his visa and work permit and travelled to the Netherlands to participate in the press conference and finalize the deal.

“Of course the move from Iran to the Netherlands is great”, a happy Jahanbakhsh told reporters.

“When I first heard about NEC’s interest in me, I informed myself about the the club and the league and was very pleased.

“The league is known for good education and a as a place where young players can develop. The same goes for NEC and that is why I opted for this club, despite interest from other clubs.

“I think this is the right place for taking the next step in my career”, Jahanbakhsh concluded.

NEC’s technical director Carlos Aalbers explained that he immediately was impressed with two Iranian players when he attended the AFC U19 championship together with scouts from different European top clubs last autumn, one of them being Alireza Jahanbaksh.

While the other player remained unnamed, it’s likely Aalbers was referring to Sardar Azmoun, who shortly after the competition joined Russian giants Rubin Kazan.

“We are always looking for talents and this was an opportunity to get one so we took the initiative”, the technical director said.

“The player has many offensive qualities which we can develop further.

“We have 95% of all issues settled and hope to finish the final details within the next two weeks.”
