Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Persepolis striker Reza Norouzi has been ruled out for at least seven months after suffering a ligament injury in the 2-1 loss against Malavan on Wednesday.

Norouzi, who scored his team’s only goal with a penalty shot in the 18th minute, will undergo surgery on his knee in the coming days.

“Norouzi tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. He will have an operation in the near future and is expected to be out of action for approximately seven months. He will be available for the new season of the AFC Champions League,” Persepolis doctor Sohrab Keyhani told the Mehr News Agency on Friday.

The 31-year old striker, who scored 11 goals in 24 appearances for Naft Tehran last season, joined Persepolis in the summer on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
