It is not really fair for anyone to think of football and its joy when so many lives were lost and they have families who cannot be ignored.

As the webmaster of this site, I let the football forum be open because we all miss football and at least we could share news and follow it but we must understand that we are not in a normal situation. We cannot jump up and down now and show excitement as it would be an insult to the families who lost loved ones. And for what? To be free like most of us here that have unfortunately taken it for granted.

But some of you come here and cheer for the same regime who is responsible for this whole thing.

The way to get Iran free is to stop participating in all regime activities. That is the responsibility of every Iranian. Including football players.

So are we not allowed to have anything to enjoy anymore? Does that mean we all have to stay at home and get depressed?
What a pointless thing to say.

By your logic, we’d never be allowed to show any joy again, because terrible things happen every day in this world.

I hate this government, but I don’t show it through ridiculous Instagram Stories or by boycotting in a football forum. I go to demonstrations. Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and many more.

You can make a difference in the real world, not from behind a screen.

      A boycott wouldn’t change a thing. A very ill-considered statement

If Trump killed +45000 protestors you better bet no US players would put their jersey on and represent their country

And trust me... there have been well more than ~45000 people protesting against him.

Thats why Trump is better than IRGC. If you have a problem with this statement then you are the problem

If the New Zealand game started, and the TM players all took their jerseys off and protested against the regime...

would you cry tears of joy or would you be upset that there wouldn't be a game?

Are the North Korean players traitors to their country? The Cubans? Were the Iraqis under Saddam?

The reality is that today's Team Melli were just born in the wrong place and the wrong time. And there are many on this board who are lucky enough to have the luxury to be able to judge Team Melli from behind a keyboard with no cost to themselves or their family's own wellbeing. But these are young men who are enduring a terrible situation and are attempting to live their lives regardless the circumstance and in hope they can bring some joy to those back home, however bad things are.

As for "the problem", it is people writing comments like yours and being so narrow minded as to not understand the bigger context when making their comments. Its easier to follow like sheep, I know, but you will need to learn to think critically if you want to have a productive contribution to the discussion about the state of affairs with respect to Iran. Otherwise, you're just adding noise.

Trump and the Republican Party made American athletes who kneel in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in America unemployable. No athlete dares to kneel anymore today. By your logic all Black American athletes are traitors to their own people then. Do you really believe that?

Thank you for letting us all know you have a problem with my statement. Now we know whose side you are on. Your response is showing that you'd rather win a probably pointless quarrell against me than realize that you care more about hating Trump than getting rid of the regime. Thats fine bro whatever.

Give us some examples of athletes who took a knee and lost their careers. Kaepernick doesnt count because if you knew who we was you would know why his career went to shit and how he pivoted to kneeling in order to stay in the conversation hes addicted to. Hes a bad role model for African americans.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about; Kaepernick not only led his team to the Super Bowl, but he has continued to be considered by many in the African American community as a civil rights activist. It figures you're either a plant on here or fancy yourself some sort of conservative, white-power Republican, perhaps not completely aware of where Iranians are placed in that world view.

I don’t really want to get into this argument about Kapernick, but go look at his career. His last 2 years he was 2-6 and 1-10 as a starter. If you followed the 49ers, you would have known that he was clearly on the downslide. The NFL will hire rapists, fellons, drug dealers, and slew of other not so savory humans. Trust me if a team believed that Kap was as good as his Super Bowl run under Harbaugh, they would have for sure signed him.

Nothing I said in my post should scream groyper lol. You dont win arguments by making extreme judgements with MINIMAL evidence. For example... I could claim that you are against the war and want the IRGC alive so you can watch your soccer game but I wont stand by those words, so you can stay on this forum.

Kaepernick is a fake who thinks highly of himself. I knew Assyrian people who went to high school with him in Turlock, CA. Stephen A Smith is a better spokesperson.

You should go listen to some Malcolm X. White liberals are destroying the black community, and our community. Also please watch some Kaepernick film, youll see that after the superbowl he lost he couldn't adjust to defenses adjusting to him so he decided to find another way to get attention for himself by "taking a knee"

Ah yes, Assyrians in California. The authority on Black American sociology. One sec while I tell the NAACP to have a seat.

You talk about Malcolm X and then joke that Stephen A. is some sort of champion?

Kaepernick may have not been a great shake, but the idea that a conference winning QB doesn't get picked up as a back-up a few years later in unheard of in a league with so few good QBs and where an injury to your starter can sink a season. Its naive to think political pressure didn't play a role, particularly when Trump openly spoke about this and Pence outright left a game after players knelt during the anthem, some who went on to file grievances against the league.

I dont think you've ever listened to Malcolm X or you would know exactly what im talking about... how destructive white liberals are.

And stop defending Kaepernick. You saw the facts and they dont care about your feelings.

+45000 protestors died wanting the freedoms we the diaspora in the western world take for granted and you want to talk about loser athletes losing their jobs because criminals are criminals

And ruining this message board for soccer fans is how you help those dead protesters? Yes, very Malcolm X.

Its not totally clear why you, Artaxerex, and Messy are here. You hate the team and there is no check on what you're going to say here, okay. But why are you spending your time shouting down everyone else who is interested in the team or discussing attending a game this summer? I'm genuinely asking and am genuinely curious, what does that do?

Actually, I have been on this forum longer than you and longer than my join date says as well.

Aside from your sarcastic and nasty language, you didn't say much and you didn't answer the question I had to Messy: why are you spending your time shouting down everyone else who is interested in the team or discussing attending a game this summer -- what does that do for you? It certainly has no impact on world affairs.

For example: I hated the Jared Borgetti Mexican NT of the early 2000s. I didn't go on their message boards 24/7 to tell Mexican fans I hated their team. What is it that compels you to keep reminding those here to actually discuss Iranian football how much you hate the Iranian National Team? Why don't you join a current events message board or organization?

This isn't a political question that involves responses involving words or phrases like "ey emam", "apes", "ass lickers", "executed", "irgc firth team" or "damn" that in most places would get flagged for being distasteful and disrespectful. I'm asking about your motivation.

a lot of the families of the members here were against the shah in the 70s. That’s why they all live with guilt and self hatred. They know our country is in its current state due to their actions so they deflect their hatred onto others.
