Friends. We all have invested in this to go enjoy the game we all love, I have much more than most here but we are in the same ship. But lets look at the situation a little more closely.

We still have 1000s of families still mourning. They have lost loved ones to this regime. Think about it.

It is not really fair for anyone to think of football and its joy when so many lives were lost and they have families who cannot be ignored.

As the webmaster of this site, I let the football forum be open because we all miss football and at least we could share news and follow it but we must understand that we are not in a normal situation. We cannot jump up and down now and show excitement as it would be an insult to the families who lost loved ones. And for what? To be free like most of us here that have unfortunately taken it for granted.

And now you want to be free to go watch football? We all deserve it I know as there is no crime of watching football but to be loudly enjoying it might not be a decent thing to do at this time.

So I ask all of you to understand that we are in no ways responsible for the events but perhaps could be more understanding to what really happened. You dont want to blame the victims for this or do you? So is there any other but the IR who has started a war on peace for almost 50 years??? They are responsible for everything not us people.

But some of you come here and cheer for the same regime who is responsible for this whole thing. So if you think being patriots means supporting the same fingers that have been pulling the triggers on people like you and I, and for a very long time? As January 2026 was not the first time.

If we cant agree on politics, at least lets agree on humanity instead of adding salt to the injury. Coming here and posting praise for this regime and their representatives is really being a traitor to the people of Iran. So stop that or I have no choice but to interfere.

Should I tell you what our problem as Iranians is in my opinion.

As soon as more than one Iranian is in the room, we turn into extremists.
It doesn’t matter if we’re doctors or engineers, we become irrational.

And now all the negativity is being directed at our national football team again instead of the regime.

I'm sure there are still some supporters of TM in Iran, but from everything I've heard from last year before blackout, most of my cousins and those who were diehard TM fans in the past gave up on the team. I think the heart of many of our members here is thinking that the happiness our people will feel will outweigh the propaganda tool/usage of this World Cup by IR.

In reality, our people are living in a blackout, and likely games will be censored in Iran. They will not get much enjoyment even if Iran has a miracle and wins the whole thing. In this weighing, our people I think will not get the same euphoria and enjoyment if TM does well. On the other hand, IR will be milking every moment in USA, talking a big game, likely saying rude things begging to be thrown out by USA graciously hosting TM. Just being assholes as they usually are, and the players will suffer mentally for this. Like being a child going to the store with an abusive asshole parent yelling at store clerks.

The pendulum is very far in the direction that IR will use any success from this World Cup to point and say "see, we are great! Even with these evil Americans hosting us, we beat New Zealand!" I don't want them to have any of these brownie points, and if there was a heavy indication that people in Iran would be made happy by such an event, I would possibly lean more towards wanting to support the team. But they either won't see it, or if they do, the vast majority are living in hell under IR and won't care. A fleeting "nice" possibly, but then go back to living under these evil bastards. If Iran is thoroughly embarrassed and loses all 3 games, sent home with tails between their legs, it's another loss for this fragile, crumbling IR. The more losses these bastards have when trying to seem strong and puffing out their chests as the real champion of the world, the better. I want them to be exposed for what they are, and that is personal to me, but I hope others will understand why so many of us feel this way. I won't call someone names for supporting TM, but IR has spent billions paying terrorists and is now wanting to go compete on the international stage. We don't deserve to even be there imo, just on the backs of talent of the players.

In baseball, basketball, etc., there are teams that do ghedah bazi and pay peanuts then complain about the Dodgers, etc. Teams that spend and invest and play the game the right way. TM is those ghedah teams, wasting money on terrorists instead of culture, sport, etc. We deserve to get crushed for this behavior imo, I hate the regime for many things, and putting our players and nation in a position where we're always a "well, at least Iran tried" position when with our talent and football history we should be like Japan/Korea and stunning world powers, that is another shame from these assholes. CQ was a miracle sent into our laps for a decent few years, but outside of him, we've been a junk team and always will be under IR.

Appreciate all of the responses and dialogue. I do wish we could tone it down a bit and have regular discord without profanity. I've decided to go, but effectively will treat it as a protest for the full 90 minutes across all matches and attempt to the best of my ability to smuggle in the right flags, messages, symbols—that is, unless something seriously changes between now and then (or the players show a different side of themselves when not on Iranian soil).

As Webbie jan stated, what's happening in our country is much bigger than football and it would be a slap in the face of the oppressed people of our country to show joy for the success of a team who has very clearly become IR's team over the past weeks and months.
