Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Iran thrashed Afghanistan 6-0 in a u-23 Asian Championship qualifier in Tehran’s Azadi stadium on Sunday.

In front of 80,000, mostly Afghan immigrant, fans, Iran achieved a clear victory thanks to a brace from Sardar Azmoun and further goals from Mohammad Moradmand, Milad Kamandani, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Roozbeh Cheshmi.

While Afghanistan, like Palestine and Nepal, are already eliminated, Iran top the group with nine points out of three games and a 14-0 goal difference.

Second placed is Iran’s next opposition (Tuesday), Saudi Arabia, with seven points.

The top team will automatically qualify for the 2016 u-23 Asian Championship in Qatar, which will also be the Olympic qualifiying.

The second placed team will be ranked against the other nine second placed teams of this qualification round and also qualify, if among the top five.
