I don’t think we repeat such performance anytime soon! We probably will win it all again but not with 15 medals in both categories…

They are very deep in talent. While they have a lot of guys wrestling for other countries, they are still very deep in talent.

My general response was more to the fact that Russia as a team would still be dominant if they weren’t suspended in the last few years and certainly would have challenged us and the US’s stronghold in freestyle. However they would not have been able to challenge our dominance in Greco.

Obviously this is my humble opinion only.

Masoumi officially joins Azerbaijan. He posted in his insta account!
federation hands were tight! You have someone like Zare, who is one of the most decorated wrestlers despite being only 24 and Masoumi who will be a great wrestler and he is only 21!
We will most likely see zare vs masoumi in world and Olympics competition from now on… so one more competition for zare from a country which wasn’t a menace in heavy weight’s generally speaking…
What sucks is masoumi’s weight is the last weight and he had no chance to go to higher weight and compete there or even lose the weight ( he should have lowered to 97 which was probably very hard if not impossible)

can you really blame him, it is sad that we are in this situation that we have talents from all industry leaving the country.

He took the easy route. He should have stayed and worked his ass off to beat Zare. He could have stayed and became a legend, now he will be known as a vatan foroush. He is young, he had plenty of time to see how this develops and put this decision off for at least a few years. What is an Olympic medal worth if you aren’t winning it for your homeland?

Can you switch back few times? Like can he compete for Iran again?
tbh, with Zare we are good for 2 more Olympics , so his only chance was some asian competition or some meaningless tournament!
but yeah he should at least have tried to beat Zare in TM selection! He is only 21!
