Man this place is turning toxic. One of my uncles (mom's brother) was executed by the Shah for being a communist and wanting more for the people, my other uncle (his younger brother) was imprisoned for 7 years and tortured by the Sevak. He was released after the revolution and then put back in prison for 9 years under the Ayatollah for the same reasons. He was tortured even worse under that regime. My dad's side is from Yazd and historically Zardoshti, my mom's side has been educated for a long time and have been mostly secular. I don't give two shiites about the IR sunni and want them all gone as much as everyone else, but this is a football forum. People are just expressing their opinions and that is healthy. Most of us value having others around that don't agree with us all the time. Difference of opinion is good all around. Otherwise, we're just another orange clown in the oval office that gets rid of whoever isn't a yes man. That is not healthy. I may not support the individual players and their theological beliefs, but I stand behind my country and my people as a whole. And this is all we got. Let us enjoy it. This is no different than all the idiot athletes that try to give you health advice (look at COVID). I don't want to hear from an athlete or an actress about vaccinating my kid against measles or how it may cause the tism. I just want them to kick a fuking ball around and give me a bit of joy. I got other humans that I can listen to for medical, political, and life advice. Not these athletes. Hopefully even of SOME of them can represent us with class and do/make a statement of some sorts, we will come away with a positive experience. And I have no doubt that despite the FIFA regulations, our compatriots will be exhibiting the Shir and Khorshid in the stands (which BTW is NOT necessarily for Pahlavi support, but the idea of the glory days of Persia and the Cyrus cylinder, rightfully the first charter of human rights).

^ your people dont want the IR so what is your position apart from playing ball?? A lot of people died just expressing their feelings, .Are you aware of this fact?? so what is more important between ball fun and losing life?????
Go enjoy but dont explain the killings away because you want football joy. There is a time for everything.
People in Iran, where we both come from, have been on the streets dying for freedom. Who cares about your joy?? It is not worth that your peopke die for. You are more toxic yourself. Please instead of telling us a story, concentrate on what our people want instead and that is FREEDOM.__________________________________________________ ________________________________________
