As we have said before, it is impossible to separate sports from politics in current Iran. The players themselves are politicised and there is no middle ground. If you play for Iran, you play for the murderous Islamic Republic. If you cheer for Iran, you are cheering for the Islamic Republic.

What a ridiculous assertion to make if that’s the case then why even join this forum?Originally posted by koorosh View PostAs we have said before, it is impossible to separate sports from politics in current Iran. most countries on earth are corrupt brutal governments
look at this World Cup
Qatar- murders 1000s in stadium construction get many footballers gladly play in their leagues
haiti - probably an even worse government than Iran’s lawless and futile nation yet players still opt to play for them? Why? because they are sports athletes that don’t give a shit for politics they just want to better their careers.
USA- bombed some 9 odd countries in this year alone i don’t see anyone calling to boycott the mls for the atrocities committed in Iraq in the early 2000s
Saudi Arabia - again literally gunned down it’s own nationalities in the construction of neom yet many players and famous athletes took money to play there and no outcry - not to mention the atrocities in Yemen
outside the World Cup
North Korea- still attracts disporas despite all the crap that happens there yet no media pushback as opposed to Iranian diasporas
most nations on earth are corrupt as f and serve the world economic forum , no government should ever be trusted . IR was a pile a crap for 30 years prior to this websites creation that hasn’t changed and probably never will seeing how politically divided Iranians are even on this website bashing each other just for talking about football
most sports athletes don’t care - there have been some examples on this thread of some that have but the majority of people care for their livelihood ahead of what the collective want
in the stadiums it will be majority pro- shah and anti regime anyway I don’t see why people want to boycott this team when they are playing in geographically the most advantageous place against the regime as conceivably possible outside of Iran - i thought the protests in Australia women’s Asia cup were at least constructive and achieved something which is better than nothingPlease watch and Subscribe:

Your argument is off base. None of those countries, except Haiti, killed their own citizens like the Iranian regime. If we are comparing our people to the Haitians, we are in deep doo doo. You also talk out of both side of your mouth. So are you rooting for TM or are you going to the games to basically show your displeasure with the regime and the team that represents it?Originally posted by Super Shojaei View PostWhat a ridiculous assertion to make if that’s the case then why even join this forum?

Listen,I can sit here and hear your argument if the players kept their mouth shut and just went and played. Like you said, separating sports from politics. But when you have khaymals coming out supporting the regime, your argument becomes invalid.

I’m pretty sure norrofakan and nemyati are being invited based on their pro Ir stance not their ability because they’re both useless footballersOriginally posted by PEJ View PostHere is a question for the people who want to separate Team Melli from Sepah, are you really going to root for this guy? Or Shoja, Kanani or the other overt khayemals? Or are you going to only celebrate the achievements of the covert ones?
shojah i mean he’s commited age fraud, caused skocic to resign and has been heavily pro ir- basically the baddest of bad eggs you can get
kanaani again based on footballing ability shouldn’t be near the team
under cq or any foreign coach I don’t think these players would be in contention I’m 60 percent sure someone is controlling who gn picks and who he doesn’t
then again pro rp players who stood up against the regime like ghaedi still got picked whether that was the appease the fans i don’t know

North Korea most definitely does yet many Japanese Koreans like Jong Tae See opted to play because they wanted to further their careersOriginally posted by PEJ View Post

Saudi Arabia literally gunned down it’s own citizens in the construction of Neom
https://www.newcivilengineer.com/lat...on-06-11-2024/ 21k dead so far
On 23 January, Saudi Arabia’s Specialised Criminal Court of Appeal upheld death sentences against three members of the Huwaitat tribe, Shadli, Ibrahim and Ataullah al-Huwaiti.
you don’t see Anthony Joshua coming out in protest for this? No he’s happy to collect his paychecks and no one cares
USA I mean they literally administered poison Covid vaccines to millions on earth yet no one is calling for a boycott of their sports teams- I know many who have been injured off the Covid vaccines and still not recovered
we’ve probably been on Haiti’s level since the 1980s when we used Child soldiers in the Iran Iraq war that was 17 years prior to this forum starting so if we want to boycott this team due to moral grounds we should have done so then
even Taremi who’s my favourite player his dad is very much pro ir- i dont like that fact but he did actually stand up to the stadium corruption in the media at least he said something more than most. The majority of the players involved in pro ir speeches aren’t even good players nemyati, noorofakan, shoja, torabi, kannani should be nowhere near the teamPlease watch and Subscribe:

Bro come on man! In Saudi 1 person died and 3 were sentenced to death. They haven’t been killed yet. And why would Anthony Joshua care about a Saudi citizen?Originally posted by Super Shojaei View Post

Also have you ever been to Saudi? I spent 3 months there. The people being killed are not considered true Saudi citizens. While the Saudi’s are considered to be a pretty brutal monarchy, they pale in comparison to what IR has done in the last 47 years to its own people.
Your US argument is so crazy that it really doesn’t even warrant a response. You are literally minimizing what IR is doing by comparing it to the US.
The athlete has every prerogative to decide to play for the team for personal gain. But what is your personal gain by watching and supporting them? The more you post here the more it looks like you are a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Wolf in sheep’s clothing? I’ve literally critiqued all the pro Ir players and said this regime was shit way before this forum started?
21k deaths you override them because of their nationality lol you literally cherrypick to suit your argument
yes I’ve been to Riyadh , Jeddah and Jazan - people in Riyadh and Jeddah seem to like the government whilst people in Jazan seem to believe they’re pretty repressed by their religion and laws/corruption i only spoke to roughly 10 locals so I have only a narrow lense or viewpoint still inevitable human rights abuses have occurred and this is partly why vision 2030 is failing - worker deaths of those 21k don’t matter as long as they’re not the blood that suit your narrative I guess?
I don’t think Iran will ever be free because it’s too religiously divided and corrupt - the schemes they use to import more Iraqis, Lebanese , mercenaries et al just serve to divide the nation further i don’t think regime change is coming in my lifetime so the only connection to the nation now Is through watching team Melli ? I guess that’s about all i gain? Like most dispora fans this team is getting booed either way in America like they did in Australia

Your argument is so disingenuous. While I agree that the Saudi’s don’t really give a shit, the 21k died because of lack of safety protocols in their construction work who were mostly Indians and Bangladeshi. They didn't line up their own people up and shoot them because they were voicing their displeasure. Have they killed people here and there, for sure. But it’s like comparing apples and oranges.Originally posted by Super Shojaei View Post

Additionally what narrative am I driving? I’m not a Saudi. I couldn’t care less.
This entire argument comes back to how do you separate your fandom when it comes to rooting for players who openly support the regime. You never answered my question. What is your personal gain for rooting for khayemal regime players? Those players that you mention will for sure take the pitch during the World Cup. Are you going to hope that a non khayemal scores 100 goals in a game a Beiravand gives up only 99 goals?
