Congrats! That was an exhilarating game! Both sides played hard. Iran winning this difficult match shows how good the Iranian players are.

We practice a LOT of PKs this past week.

ARJ: after becoming 10, we have so much faith in Ali (Beiro), that we said let's give all our life for the next 30 minutes (of added time) to get to penalties. The penalty takers were all world class.
        .
fact that everyone was relying on going to penalties tells us all we need to know. Good luck to TM, but even a 10 man team should have completed the job in extra time. Yes Syria has been getting good results, only letting in one goal against Iraq, Uzb, Australia etc. but same team been beaten 5-0 by Japan while others managed to score a single goal.....Of course we can beat Japan in next game but current odds are not that great....

To me only way to beat Japan is to play mental games with their goalie and defensive line, Suzuki seems to be their weakest link?

Only 4 players that started in that Japan game started vs Iran yesterday. Not really the same team

I think they're just local workers that they probably give free tickets and a shirt too.
Also it's very clear their TV has been instructed to focus only on those fans.
Whenever it shows the non hezzi fans, it cuts away immediately.

About time, SK has not won the cup in 64 years and Iran has not won it 48 years.

Taremi did the right thing on the second booking. But he has not learnt anything at all. He always loses his head in crucial games both for club and country. He gets sent off doing stupid things. He should learn not to dive in such crucial moments of a game. The fact that we need gardan koloft players like Taremi for Japan game will cost us.

Regarding this Japanese team, they are horrible at marking players, horrible att collecting loose balls, horrible under pressure. When attacking we will need to go up front with three or four players attacking. Many aerial balls and crosses will be crucial. This will be a game where fitness and physicality will be of outmost importance. If we play defensive with one attacker up front or two at most they will easily be contained.

The team needs to use their fitness and they need to pick their moments and attack full force and then go back to defense. Then again full attack then defense. This needs to be the game plan and tactic.

We should not exaggerate the state of Team Melli either. The team lost concentration on goal scoring. The score couldve been 4-1. Even with one man down Syria wasnt any real threatening Iran. Iranian mental lapses almost cost us as it did in the past. My hope for us going forward is that the team finally got rid of these mental lapses from their system and that they now are getting used to the pressure surviving the mistakes.

                              Agree!

First dive: made a meal of a true foul and Mission Accomplished!

Second dive: much bigger gamble... don't you think the refs read up on who is a diver before such big games!

Sitting out vs Japan is a big hit for the team and him.

I was secretly happy he was crying... thought it served him right.

Should we lose to Japan, Taremi will bear a big part of it!

I feel bad about making a drinking game for ARJ's expected poor play, but he did do very well up until he was subbed out.

I think GN took Ghoddos and Ghayedi off at 63 because he wanted to go defensive and rest them for the next game, thinking Syria wasnt going to do anything. Unfortunately a minute later Syria got the penalty 😕
