Tractor Sazi focused on winning Hazfi Cup, GM says
Tehran Times – TABRIZ, Tractor Sazi general manager Jamshid Nazmi says the team is determined to win Iran’s Hazfi Cup with their newly-appointed coach Tony Oliveira.
The 67-year-old Portuguese joined the Tabriz-based football club on Saturday on a three-month contract that will pay him $150,000.
“We were forced to sign the coach since we wanted to make better use of our time. But we know this short-term deal is not good enough. Toni needs more time to get to know the team. We are focusing on winning Iran’s Hazfi Cup,” Nazmi told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday.
Tractor Sazi will host Foolad in the semifinals of the Hazfi Cup on Tuesday.
“We are looking forward to finishing in the top three in the Iranian Professional League as well,” the Tractor Sazi general manager added.
Oliveira is returning to Tractor for a second stint. He was also the coach of the club in 2012.
Tractor Sazi is currently in sixth place in the Iran Professional League.
