Persianfootball.com – GRONINGEN, NEC Nijmegen lost the final game ahead of the winter break 2-5 on Sunday and remain on bottom of the table despite a great second half display from Iranian gem Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

The 20-year-old winger started the match as centerforward and looked a bit lost in first half, which ended with a shocking 0-4 scoreline for Groningen.

But NEC and especially Jahanbakhsh showed a much improved second half display. 10 minutes into second half the Iranian international set up Hemlein after showing good footwork on the deep ground, who scored the 1-4.

The former Damash Gilan man seemed to have given his team a lifeline just minutes later when he was not attacked in midfield and slammed the ball into the upper right corner to mark his third league goal of the season.

But Groningen’s fifth goal ended all uncertainty and so NEC have to go into the four-week winter break on bottom of the table, although staying in touching distance to the non-relegation zone.

Clean sheet for Davari, good Dejagah versus Manchester City

Similarily to NEC, Eintracht Braunschweig ended the first season half as bottom placed team, but ended on a high note as they defeated Hoffenheim 1-0 in German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Thanks to the third win of the season, Iranian interantional goalkeeper Daniel Davari and his teammates are still all but relegated with 17 matches to go.

In English Premier League, Ashkan Dejagah once more started but was subbed out in second half in Fulham’s 2-4 loss to Manchester City.

Dejagah again showed a splendid performance and thereby continued to emerge as one of Fulham’s key players in the fight to leave the relegation zone as soon as possible.
