Special shout out to honorary Iranian Arash Yoshida who got Gold in 97kg (Azimi got Bronze).
Its so heart warming hearing yoshidas hero is hasan yazdani. He has really embraced yazdanis style of fighting and is open about it. Everything about him is more iranian than japanese.

also on another note, i think the one trick pony tazhudinov is finished. He was so good at body locking making life living hell for everyone that he eventually injured shoulders and elbows. His injuries also seem to be recurring.

It wpuld still not matter as I truly believe azarpira is a better wrestler on an upwards trajectory.

Problem with wrestling is that we are so deep in some weight categories, but they get overlooked because our main guy at the said weight is a world champ. Masoumi is another guy who falls in that category. He wrecks everyone, but can’t beat Zare. Kamran wrecks everyone, but can’t beat Hassan at 86kg.
Regarding Hasan. He is done and he needs to realize this. That shoulder injury is so severe.....

He should be retired, medaled and celebrated nationally on ceremony. Be provided financially and put in charge at some position in developing cadets and juniors as a start.

Kamran needs to move down to 86 and wreck the opposition there. And Firouzpour stay at 92 at long term.

My problem with iranian wrestling is that oyr wrestlers and federation dont know when to retire the superstars. This has always been the case. For example shoulder injured Dabir had no business competing at 2004 olympics. Etc

I think we should have a selection system like the US. You have to compete to earn your spot in the Olympics.

Arash's underhooks, stance, and cool demeanor are certainly reminiscent of Yazdani!

Very impressed by Rahmani Firo. Glad to see we have a young up and coming 86kg guy.

"Iran did something really great and valuable this year by bringing young wrestlers to the Asian Championships, proving that we can win the title with them and that they deserve our trust," said Masoumi, whose father Fardin was a two-time world medalist and finished fifth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"The championship age is getting lower in the world, and I believe the more opportunities we give these young athletes, the bigger achievements they can accomplish."
