first of all I dont know how old you are but gary lineker said this in the early 90's and it was because of decades of the germans winning games that they werent suppose to win, especially in the 80s. I give you an example:

In 1982 WC semi final France had a 3-1 lead in over time but the germans came back and won a game they shouldnt have won.

Then in the 1986 second round a very weak german team who barely beat morocco 1-0 on a 88th minute goal by mathaus, advanced to the quarterfinals and then barely beat Mexico in PKs. In the same stages France beat defending champion Italy 2-0 and then beat the favorites Brazil in PKs. So when the 2 teams met in the semis everyone thought france would get their revenge from their loss in the same stage from 4 years earlier. So what happened?? Germany again won and this time 2-0!!!

The germans were not even suppose to make it to the 1990 WC. They got lucky when Hassler scored a goal against Wales and germany won 2-1. With a tie the germans would not have made it. Needless to say they won that 1990 WC.

As for that game you just posted, hey man, even a broken clock shows the correct time twice a day!!

I was thinking EXACTLY that when the game ended. He actually said Footbal is a sport that 2 teams compete for 90 minutes and then at the end germany wins (the "always" part takes the funny out of it)
