congrats to Mehdi. Brilliant season, some people kept saying he is being phased out and benched, in the end his statline is ridiculous with a game to spare. Will probably get league MVP because of goal/assist combo plus 1st place finish. although nunez is a brilliant striker (but not as complete all around player).

Even today mehdi missed that chance early but his presence really affected the benfica defenders. He was harassing them at every loose ball, winning fouls, taking up dangerous spots in the box, and given that benfica were the better team for decent stretches that annoyance certainly affected their concentration and thus helped prevent them from capitalizing on their periods of dominance. Last 15 min in particular they were so fed up with him they stopped playing football basically

He turned on the after burners on that play and beat the defender even though he had a longer distance to reach the ball. I was yelling "TO ZAIDU, TO ZAIDU" the whole time he was running! What a goal and finish!
