So that when we draw to Oman, it's not too bad and when we draw against Japan, it's a massive accomplishment...
yes, because clearly there is nothing to be critical off ...... from our infrastructure, all the way to our glorious league which has (by the way), failed to do crap in the international scene against the mighty opponents such as AL-Qods and AL-Nusra. Whether we have potential or not is irrelevant. Potential does not win games. The fact is, CQ does not have players from Bundesliga, Serie A or La Liga to choose from. So, yes, our talent level is nothing compared to the days when we had Kia, Nekounam, Hashemian, Rezaei and gheyreh to choose from. It's not even close.

As for our homegrown talent, just remember that if it weren't for an unknown player from the 2nd division Dutch/Belgium league, we would be watching the worldcup from our living rooms with Oman and Turkmenistan fans

Why is that when it comes to CQ who has a had a MUCH BETTER treatment from IFF and Media than those who came before him, are we not kicking him out after poor results?
There are many reasons. One CQ has a better resume than all of those people combined. So there is more trust in what he can accomplish. Two, he got us to the WC.

Three, he is not playing the game Daei and GN were playing. Both those guys got burned by by the same system they took advantage of. Neither of those guys brought the best players to the NT, they just brought their loyal players.

Not sure what the acl has to do with having some talent in the league clubs don't need to dominate a continental tournament to have good players on the national team. Look at Chinese clubs their doing well in the acl yet their domestic players are pretty crap. Uzbek teams do horably yet they produce some decent players. Eredivisie teams don't do well yet they have good players in their league. Just look at tm and u23 and see how many of those players play for this past years acl clubs. Not many of them so not much of a point there.
TM always had a though time against Oman and Turkmenistan, check the stats. You can't deny that Quieroz pulled TM out of a dark era in our football history, there where hardly young talents between 2012-2014, he thought us to play more professionaly, organised, qualified for the world cup. And with the talents which are making their way, Quieroz is going to take TM to the next level.

My intentions with these comments? Someone for the love of GOD/ALLAH/BUDDHA get him to complain less. We all know, things in Iran are difficult, he needs to give it a rest.

Yes, the fame and money gets to their head. Remember Shojaei during his store opening in Tehran? The dude had a dollar sign on his lapel.
Baba jan, read things twice before responding. I said HIS intentions, not yours.

Aside from those things you have mentioned he has arranged for good friendlies, brought order to TM, dealt with the corruption in the IFF offices, exposed problems he couldn't solve. These are all big things no manager has ever done. The fact alone that he exposed the corrupt nature of our football is more than enough. Before no one of rank was saying anything, now he has come out and exposed it.

I don't think your Shojaie example applies. He is another good example of a player who tried to make it abroad and didn't seek the fame of the IPL.

It's hard to guess what his intentions are with these comments, but he is not wrong.

Lads like Aliyari (my new favorite player), Mohammad, Motahari, Cheshmi, Daneshgar, ... showing very mature and quality performances.

Hoo boy.... talk about absolute wrong timing.
Not really indicative of if/how they will develop in the future. Remember, Saudi Arabia won the U17 WC back in 1989...non of those players went on to achieve any kind of success outside of their own domestic league. Youth soccer success has a very low correlation with adult/professional soccer success.

I did have a response to your comment, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. CQ needs to DO something to improve TM instead of nagging like an old grandmother.
I don't think he's gods gift to earth, but I think he's fantastic, yes. No one has said he single-handedly made iran more visible (that accolade goes to Ali Daei). I'm saying he brought additional visibility and credibility, which is undisputed. And enough with the chest trap, I know you understand what I'm saying.

And no, it's not a national team coach's duty to teach fundamentals like a chest trap. Do you understand how international coaching works? An international coach's job isn't to teach basic skills, it's to select the best players and develop strategies and lead the team.

You guys keep saying we don't have youth infrastructure, why isn't CQ helping with that? Apparently he loves Iran and Iranians so much, I'm sure he wouldn't mind going out of his way a little and help with youth development.

In fact, our only positive export after the WC was Mahdavikia and (if you want to call it an export) Dinmohammadi. Bagheri, Azizi, Daei, and I'm fairly sure Minavand were already playing in Europe. Compare this to WC2006, where we had a terrible performance but the quality of Teymourian, Shojaei, and Nekounam led to La Liga and EPL berths.
That is because most of the talent had already transferred due to another good showing in an international competition: 96 Asia cup.

My mistake, thanks. I forgot he stopped at Sharjah first.

I don't mean to offend any of our great members on this forum. If I didn't respect what people had to say, I wouldn't have spent the last 12 years of my life checking this forum almost daily. I think that because many people follow the PGL so closely, that they become invested in Iranian football and lose the ability to objectively assess our talent. After all, no one wants to believe that they're watching a league full of players with no promise.

But I truly do believe that it's incredibly important to support CQ and our national team right now, and to keep criticisms at a minimum because we're in a very sensitive phase right now as we try to bring in new players and figure out which of the younger stock has a future in a TM jersey. I just think it's unfair to criticize CQ for the subpar performance we've had during this transition - which by the way - is what everyone wanted!

It seems like we want it all. We want to transition and bring new blood into the team, but to also play fluid, beautiful football at the same time. You can't have both.
