He's our most in form winger bro besides Sayyadmanesh(who GN won't call up over politics). Gholi was huge in our win vs Wales and would have probably won the game for us against NZ.

Everyone has their own opinions. Some people want to support TM and some not. What I still don't get is why people who clearly have no interest in Iranian football right now keep writing hateful comments on a football forum. Why spend so much time here then? Are the footballers our biggest enemies? I'm genuinly curious.

Do you think most users here deny that IR is a killing machine with no care for their people? We all know that Taj is a POS, but the footballers are not to blame. They are athletes and nothing else. They are not the reason why Iran is corrupt.

Besides, how many of the current players have actually shown support for the regime? I know of a few, but are we talking about the majority here? I'm guessing fewer than half of the squad. You are not a regime supporter just because you haven't spoken out against them. Some are afraid to, but can we blame them?

I support TM because they represent Iran and the people. They can NOT choose which flag to play under, but like most footballers they have one dream, and that is to play in the WC. How many footballers would decline an invitation to play on the biggest stage in the world?

A successful TM gives people some joy. Isn't that what we want for ordinary Iranians?

Anyone representing Iran will automatically represent IR. Unfortunately, it's just how it is. Whether you are a footballer, a tennis player or a professional in any other field. Should everyone with an Iranian passport refuse to participate in international events? Should everyone give up on their careers and dreams because their country is run by clowns? It's not that simple, and especially not if you have grown up in a society where the options to live a good and economically stable life are limited.

Reason why Iranians can't overthrow the government on their own is exactly what you saying referring to people constant bashing of tm.

Why don't the opposition take advantage of tm being in the states. Imagine reza pahlavai show up to the match ,seat in the box and cheer for the players and name of Iran and claim the players and team melli as his own.. That will send a better message to the world .
