In a 1-striker formation system El-Kaabi is always better than Mehdi, no questions asked. The difference in speed and athleticism is night and day. Its just like how if TM played 1 striker, you always want in-form Azmoun over Taremi too, he's just not a explosive 9. However I do wonder why they won't play a 2-striker system with both more often, Mehdi would be a nice partner to El-Kaabi on the pitch.Originally posted by Tarsal Claw View PostWhy the heck would they not start him??

watched the replay last night...! he didnt perform all to terribly overall .... but had a bit rough start ... which is somewhat normal for himl , especially at his old age..!
he needs much more time than the measly 15mins here n there to grow into the game and exert his usual impact ...!
this stupid coach seems awful yek dande and set in his own ways ...!!
the fault really squarely on Mehdi and his retarded agent picking this team over much more sensible alternatives..!!
him and that Pastorella asshole that they paired him with tried way too hard with appeasing Inter's front office with their market moves and constant disrespect and stupid concessions they swallowed repeatedly all summer..!!

just woke ... its 1-1
55'
mehdi not playing ... roo nimkat id guess.? :/
this goozoo coach needs to get away from his favored 4231 and get mehdi mixed in the regular playing starters somehow if they wanna realize their full potential as team..!!
2-1 now , ref rewards kos with a soft pk call and el kaabi converts

ref now sends off an opponent player for a seemingly phantom foul ... mafia league..
no wonder kos wins it 80% of time..!!
this looks like a sorta game Mehdi could stat pad the shitt outa of..!!
if he was playing
one more Pk for Kaabi to stat pad b4 getting subbed off for yarmenchuck 74min ... this ref probably has money on the spread...!! lol
@least Mehdi will be well rested for TM camp..!!

Generally I'm a defender of Mehdi and understand he's just gotten older and is also dealing with a nasty case of pubalgia.Originally posted by Prowess View Post
Yeah, but that’s to no fault of his own. Statistically, he’s been excellent.
But..yeah no...his G/A so far has been mostly against the bottom of the league and Greek 2nd division teams in the cup. His most important goal so far has been against a mid table team.
Everytime he comes on during CL matches he's the slowest player on the pitch (even if he's subbed on fresh at min 70).
The coach hasn't really trusted him with any important moments for us to say he's been excellent.
Of course he's still a good player but he's not the player he was even 1-2 years ago.

I agree his CL performances have been poor so far.Originally posted by Pluto2000 View Post

But he has 7 goal contributions in about 270 minutes of play. That’s superb. It’s unfair to devalue that based on their opposition.
He’s definitely lost a step but his intelligence and IQ is still top notch.
