The president of the Iran Federation said: “There is no rush in choosing the coach of the national team, both Iranian and foreign options are being investigated.”
Regarding the selection of the head coach of the national team, Mehdi Taj, the head of the football federation, said: “Kirosh has taken acceptable actions for the national team and has a good past. We remember that.”
“Before the departure of Kirosh from Iran, we had talked with Qatar and we were aware of the amount that was going to be paid to him.” The head of the football federation said.
Taj added: “We are not in rush to choose the head coach of the national team; we are thinking about both Iranian and foreign options in this regard.”
“Currently, the selection of the head coach cannot lead to the formation of the team, because the league games are being held, therefore, the head coach of the national team should be selected at the right time.” The head of IFF concluded.

Shortly afterward, Nekounam announced his resignation from the post. It’s while Foolad will have to play Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal in the 2022 AFC Champions League quarterfinals on Thursday. Iranian media reports suggest that Nekounam is a candidate to lead Iran's national football team.
