In the Persian gulf cup , Morocco B just won the tournament , I know Qatar played with their A team so did Jordan A team , two teams in the World Cup , and Morocco B beat them …

I mean you right beggars can not be choosers , so we see what happens , I think that no matter what the 1st game we have to beat New Zealand , if we tie or lose we done ….

All I want from my team is to play the best that they can, for every minute of every game.

The vast majority ordinary Iranians did not rise during the Mahsa Movement and millions of ordinary Iranians, hopefully a minority, still support IR anyhow. I cannot have an expectation of our soccer players to be any different than the people they represent.

For those of you who say this is IRs team, not Iran's team, I have a sad message. IR is Iran. It is far more representative of what we truly are than the last regime.

People who say Hejazi was a hero...he also supported that murderer Rafsanjani and Mousavi etc. When players from Shahs time, like Parvin and Hejazi, support elements of IR, why hold current players to a different standard?

The good ending is that Iranians realize that this is one of the times we truly can be uncensored in what we portray to the World. IR cannot withhold everything from the eyes of Iranians in Iran. They will see what happened at the games eventually no matter what.

What Iranians decide to show at the game (Protesting for Iranian rights, secular appearances etc is what matters, a good performance etc) all matter.

You have to realize that Iranians in Team Melli (probably half of them), have had limited exposure to any Iranians from diaspora in this context.

It's not people vs the team. The odds this time are stacked against IR when it comes to whitewashing the situation though.

They are not getting visas for their people to go to LA and anyone who openly goes to support IR(not TM but loudly going to support IR) risks excommunication from the Iranian community. A lot of factors going against them this time.

I get what you are saying about Rafsanjani and Mousavi, but still under the circumstances, Hejazi was defiant and outspoken against the regime. Even his funeral turned into a massive anti-government protest.

I was never a fan of so called the "Green Movement", but I was happy to see some players wearing the green wristbands as a symbolic protest against the government.

And no sir, Hejazi and Parvin are not the same. One had class and the other (and his entourage) can function well under any regime.

Also addressing some comments on previous pages, I never said people shouldn't go to the games or anyone that goes is an IR supporter.

Everyone has their own story and views. I imagine most of us ultimately want the same thing, and it has absolutely nothing to do with "virtue signaling".
The irony about virtue signaling and hypocrisy is that anyone can blame the other of the same thing.
