How can we separate it if the regime doesn't? I had the same opinion as you many years ago but now if you see players like Azmoun not getting invited it just shows how useless it is to support this team. I lost all my interest. In Germany, we keep football separate from politics. Or we try it since 2022 lol. Unfortunately, Iranians don’t have that ability. It’s always all about us. You’re sitting abroad, feet up on the table, wanting the lads in the national team to speak out against this shitty regime and put themselves and their families in danger.
Why don’t you do something? This government must fall. So buy a ticket and take to the streets, or are you just all talk?

Yes, the government uses the team for propaganda. But let’s not forget how brave the lads were in Qatar 2022. Let’s not forget that many of these lads are against the government and, when the World Cup kicks off, will hopefully take a stand against this government once again.

Guys tensions are high, we are not each others enemies. We all want the same thing, stop arguing and going at each other.

You’re on a Persian football forum. This isn’t where a revolution is going to happen. This is where Iranians gather to watch and discuss their national team.

However you feel, about whether you should or should not support the team, that’s your choice and you can’t enforce it on someone else. If you don’t want to support the team, that’s fine, don’t come on the forum and don’t discourage someone else that wants to.

if you support the team, that doesn’t make you a bad person or a supporter of the regime. I am going to the World Cup games (should they happen). it’s been my dream to see the national team play in the WC, and I also believe their presence can bring more attention to our country’s situation rather than them not going and just getting forgotten about. I argued the same thing for 2022 (look what the women team were able to do with their presence).

I am here to also have 90 minutes break from politics, and interact with football fans. Some random person online is not your enemy or the reason our people are suffering.

Now let’s talk football. The Nigeria game was awful to watch and our tactics made zero sense. Our first half against Costa Rica was great.
