^^ I think majid jan based his list on a more comprehensive set of factors including stamina and energy, longevity, ... also, aside from technical talent and mastery of the ball.

I personally think there are about 6-7 players that can be in such a list FOR THE POST OF KARIMI IN TM (for example I dont think kaveh rezaei is in the same post. nor is dehnavi or kheiri or ashoubi or bao ) ... who can replace karimi EVEN TODAY, who can deliver that set of tasks and duties pertaining to an attacking mid/playmaker.

I dont think we shd only focus on the ball skills of karimi and totally ignore the other needs and requisites of a player. lets not forget in a football game each player shd be able to maintain a decent level of pace & energy for at least 90 minutes (if not 120).

now, would you think a 34 year old karimi after playing at least 2 TWO GAMES per week (1-IPL, 2-ACL and 3-hazfi PLUS TM 4-official and 5-unofficial games) for several weeks can maintain this consistent energy for 90 minutes in a high level WCQ game? do you really?

1. What's the logic there? Did Iran have tine to practice and develop the players? In fact, all the conditions were against a better game. They already were trough, so there goes the physiological edge. The players, who are in midst of building up their condition, didn't have enough time to train and recuperate. The whether condition were worse than the ore iPods game. It was an away game compared to a home game last time. The field was worse. The opponent was trying to hurt our players more than they grass rolled in the previous game, etc etc etc

2. Never change a winning team? a last chance in the meaningless game for those players? The other player being injured, less motivated, didn't preform that well in training?

3. Ansarifard is already having psycological problems, can't finish, and is insecure. If you take him out in a game that he didn't even had a shot at goal then you can write him off and don't need to call him up again for the coming couple of years. Strikers and goalies only improve when they have 100% confident of the coach no matter how bad they preform. You take them out of a game it results in ruining them! So it was an risk it had to be taken. Even if it mean that he would miss the next game. And we have other options anyway, and this will be a good opportunity to try them without hirtin Ansarifards confidence.

5. A "lucky"/easy goal in the dying minutes of a game doesn't mean that much. Consitency is the key. Maybe Daghighi is not that good during trainings. Or maybe CQ want to keep him hungry and brings him gradually. Or maybe it was a last chance thing for nowroozi.

6. It's a normal thing for head coaches of normal countries to be present at such things. And next to the possible networking possibilities there, I rather have CQ represent us there infront of the rest of the world instead of a couple of incapable rishoos who can't even talk English or won't be shaking hands with the females present there.....

These are all players that have represented Iran at some capacity, but it shows that the league is NOT that poor when it comes to attacking midfielders. NOW.... I guess there are some we have not seen much of.

I personally like to see the younger ones (the last 2) be given more of a chance is such so-called meaningless games.

Darn I lol-ed so hard when I saw this. How can this be taken seriously? You came up with (no less than, I mind you) 14! players that are better than Karimi?

I'm not going to discus each player individually. And I give you that in any team, on any spot, we can come with one or two alternatives (which are usually our biases/favorites) players instead of the actual selected player.

But if you so easily, from your comfy little couch, can name 14 players who are better options than the fix starter and the captain of a team, then the coach of the team is not only incapable and stupid, but he's f-ing incapable and f-stupid.

Don't get me wrong Karimi should be replaced sooner than later, and more players should be given the opportunity/be tested.......but 14!!!!!!!

Let me try mine:

1, I am not finished trying them by just one game.

2, Same above, who's every one? I am the coach last time I checked. Besides, I think even if I had lined up 11 keepers, they should have played much better than these so called pro's played.

3, I didn't know my forward is that stupid that he can manage to get 2 yellow in two games against a minor team. Well, now I know, he is capable doing that.

4, Karimi is my team recognition. He is still as good as others plus bringing respect and leadership in the team. I still thin he is not finished and can bring some experience from Germany to my team.

5, You keep asking the same question in different ways. I choose my players, not you. I still think even players from second devision must have played much better than that. If you want any chance in higher level football, you gotta go elsewhere, a national team is not started from scratch. it's the fruit of a national football. If I could manage to fix all the problems, World Cup should award only the coaches and not the countries. Next time you question my line-up, I will ask you to throw you out of conference room.

6, It's called "networking". It's Huge in the world of business.

Ok, I'll do my best..!

1) u can't necessarily expect improvement from one match to next..! There are many factors that figure in each match that decide the faith of it. U can say that Maldives improved drastically from the last match & off course they had homefield advantage & better knowledge of us as a team & our preferred tactics..!
2)I have a sneaky suspicion that CQ is deliberately holding back his best cards( players) only for when absolutely needed & not display his team's full potential & maintain his element of surprise ..! He saw first hand how TM managed to beat Russia..! Perhaps that's why many superior players failed to make the cut for this round while some questionable players got the nod..! I was very disappointed as well to see the same lineup but in his book the tie was already over & he needn't risk exposing anything for future contenders in next rounds. I thought puladi played fine, Zareh was ok but couldn't stand to see noruzi on pitch after half..! Yet why should CQ jump the substitution gun when his team is leading @ half & in the tie by a huge margin..!? Why not wait to see what your opposition's plans are before ..!? Meanwhile I noticed him switching Wings with KB..! The 2 of them got replaced eventually anyhow ..!
3) ?? Perhaps he was on the bubble & this was his last chance to make himself worthy of inclusion in next round games..! Anyways this game proved to me that we are wasting valuable time on this choking king so called prodigy ..! I'm also glad he got his second yellow so now I know for sure we can see another potential player brought up in his place..!

4) who did we have on the bench who could have possibly replace AK's services..!?? I agree that he struggled today, especially in first half against an ultra aggressive opponent ..! But tbh I think CQ's tactics & formation demands way too much from AK & Hadadifar, even ghasem didn't look all too rosey today..! I'm certain that Ali's form & fitness has declined since his return to Iran & lengthy, non stop services @ TM & PP camp has taken it's toll on the old man..! He needs some rest & if CQ intends to use him game in game out for 90 min he should limit his defensive duties by changing his tactics to include a second DM ..! I still believe we simply we can not get any Overall better than him in AM in Iran ..! Even by the time WC14 comes around, there simply won't be anyone who can clearly surpass the goods he will bring to the table in any given game..!

5) legitimate concern..! Don't know..? But I think this was the last of Hadi in TM, while Daghghi may yet make the cut..!

6) if IFF fails to secure a friendly for the 10th by now, then it was surely too late now for these clowns to pull it together..! So CQ decides to take this time to take a family vacation in Rio..! Afterall it doesn't seem like they are paying him enough to sacrifice family time & put in further effort..!? Perhaps he can network there and find us potential future friendly opponent..?
This lack of friendly situation & ill timed vacation is the most disturbing part of the whole ordeal facing our football..! AK clearly put the pressure on IFF in his last game interview & most probably he was echoing his coach's silent wishes ..!

This starting players are best available according to CQ. His selection did not do well first half of first game but did better 2nd half ,hence he think with more games they will improve.
He said he will not risk so it is reasonable for him to go with his best option.

Even Queiroz himself looked to confirm this by subbing these exact players in Tehran.
Surprizingly though, all three were back in the line-up in Male.
They dissapointed again, maybe more.
So, why were they used again, when others like Mahini got no chance to show their abilities?

Its 5-0 on aggregate. Your team is 99,9% qualified.
You have a forward, Karim Ansarifard, who risks becoming suspended for the all-important first game in the next round.

4- In your starting "11", there is a 32-year old veteran who even in his prime didn't have the best physical shape.
Your team is playing in the hot and humid Male.
Your 32-year old veteran, Ali Karimi, is having a horrible game.
He gives bad passes left and right.
He is losing those one on one battles.
To top it off, he gets nutmegged by a maldivian opponent.
Why not sub him out with a younger player?
If Karimi shows clear signs that he can't cut it against Maldives, isn't it a good idea to start preparing his replacement by giving him a chance to play in a meaningless game in Male?

Saeed Daghighi comes in the final 10-12 minutes of the match in Tehran.
He scores one and misses another good chance.
He is not given even one minute of playing time in Male.
Why is that?
Why is it that a player who didn't score and performed poorly got more playing time than a footballer who made the most of the little chance which was given to him?

According to press reports, if they are accurate, after the World Cup draw, Queiroz will start a 15-day vacation!

This means the national team coach has the opportunity to see potential candidates for a place in Team Melli.
Unfortunatly, he won't be able to do that from his home in Portugal.
Another problem: 10th of august is the LAST FIFA DATE before Iran's first World Cup qualifier in september.
Virtually, the entire footballing planet has a game scheduled on this date.
Iran is among a very few countries who won't play anyone on august the 10th.
How could they, when the coach is in vacation?

Honestly, at times, I get the feeling that some iranians were born and raised in communist countries.
Some of the replies I read here are incredible.
There are members who expect others to ONLY glorify and praise certain people.

At the moment, one of those people is Carlos Queiroz.
While I'm very happy there is such unconditional support for the man, and I am one of his supporters, I don't like the idea of making him UNTOUCHABLE.

Again, in my opinion, Queiroz is our best bet for success in the long run.
I'm pretty convinced that, god forbid, he won't succeed as Iran coach, we won't get a better man for the job than him.
On the contrary, we'll end up with someone like Mayeli-Kohan.
Knowing the retarded logic of those who run the show in Iran, they'll say:

We hired a big name coach and he got us no where. So, why bother any more?
Lets go with a local solution. An iranian coach is cheaper and knows our culture and football.

And, next thing you know, Mayeli-Kohan, Jalali and Ghalenoei will be battling out for Team Melli's seat.


So, I said all this, hoping to convince EVERYONE once and for all that I am no Queiroz hater / enemy.
