There only are 2 side midfielders if you have 2 holding midfielders.
I don't know where your believes come from, but they are miles away from reality.
And you think those systems were invented by some fan? What is wrong with you? I said YOU can't simply invent new systems, not that it is impossible for everyone to invent new systems.

    exactly what I was saying.
some of us have become like robots. it's either written in our program ( or manual ) or not.
    1 or 0 !!!
we just cant accept anything out of the strict dictats of our program !!!

    hilarious in a sad way

so sorry for our TM but even Qatar plays better than us.
btw japan beat Uzbeks 0-1 and are now in WC, Australia just need a draw at Qatar, HT its 0-0.
Congratz to both of them, they play great and deserve to be in WC unlike us
I am switching between Qatar -Aussie match and UAE-Korea rep and I must agree with you that Qatar plays MUCH more organized football today.
UAE is playing crap and that second goal was the joke of the day ...a true gift from the UAE GK to South Korea.

Note: 3 of the best UAE players are out.

Anyway...this Team Melli is nothingt but a heartache and it is pretty unfair for the other good teams in this group if through some miracle , hook or crook , Iran makes it to the World Cup...

Guys, let's not bark at each other and face the facts - doesn't matter who the coach is/who we play, this team is not a team that should/will go to the WC.

Unfortunately, it was not our year.

btw, Khalatbari for me, is a starter on this team. I would play him out of position, but i'd have him on the field no matter what. I was surprised that he was on the bench.

    you cant invent football systems?
    hahahahaha
tell that to the poor sod who changed the 4-2-4 to 4-4-2
or the fellow who cam up with 3-5-2
    or the 4-5-1
    or this crummy 4-2-3-1
    or ...

secondly, this diamond of urs is again "copying what u see in X or Y or .... " !

there are two wide mids and two central.

So you think that we showed the WORST IMAGINABLE defensive performance? It can't be worse and that's why we can simply pull out defensive players because it can't get worse? Is that seriously your point?

besides I just dont understand what the hell it is u'r talking about "no coach uses".
I dont see why having ONE DM and ONE OM is so impossible for you to imagine !!!!!!
There is a fourback systems with one DM and one OM, the 4-4-2 diamond, but it has no side midfielders, and you are a width in midfield junkie, so you don't like that either.

You can't simply invent a football system. Let me make it clear, YOU can't do that. You have to stick with what real coaches use. And NO REAL COACH uses a midfield with one DM, one OM and 2 side midfielders as starting lineup. Now guess why not.

isnt that CRYSTAL CLEAR in all these games?

so might as well apply more pressure up front which may get us a goal or two
    AND
it keeps some of the opponent players at bay

but keeping 1 forward up front has NEVER EVER scared any of our opponents and even their central backs have attacked us!
    now that's just PATHETIC !

so yes, we may be exposed ( I dont think it'll be any more than it is right now ), but at least we have more strength up front to F**KING WIN GAMES !

secondly, who the f**k cares if something is used by ppl?
    why regurgitate others stuff?
if we have the kind of players who can :
1- bring good energy and interception in front of the defense line
    +
2- another couple who can play well along the side-lines and cross and surge-in and defend
    +
3- another attacking midfielder who can be creative and supply the two front strikers

... then what's holding us from using such a line up, whether it is used by anyone or not?

who the f**k said unless you see it in ur manual it will be allowed by fifa.
and if a coach tries his own thing fifa will immediately call the game forfeit ?

what's this attitude, for f**ks sake?
    get rid of it.

    simply put:
IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, THEN FREAKING USE IT.

even if 2-6-2 works for you, then bloody hell, use the damned thing.
not becoz someone else is vomiting this formation and we shd regurgitate it.
but becoz IT FREAKING WORKS FOR US .... as irrational or new or untried or untested it may seem to some of us !

you ppl seem to have the wrong priorities here!
you want to SEEM to be "using modern formations" just becoz Mr X uses it in some god forsaken hole in europe , much more than "get the formation to WORK FOR YOU" !!!

we're like that too. we think this is working and reinforcing our defense based on games against singapore or indonesia or when our rivals dont plan on attacking!! but whenever they decided to attack, even the rock bottom team in the group, has cut through our defenses with extreme ease!

so all of you saddams, plz open up ur eyes.
this system doesnt work with iranian players. plz apply it to ur european teams as much as u like. but understand this SIMPLE FACT: WE DONT HAVE THE RIGHT PLAYERS FOR THIS SYSTEM.
( as if repeated failures and proof wasnt enough for us to see !!!!!!)
No problem if you think so, but then propose a real system as alternative and not some made up 4-1-3-2, based on the logic that 2 DMs don't work in defense, so let's simply forget about it and expose the defense even more for an additionally OM in a system NO COACH uses, unless facing Laos.

Heydari on the other hand has excellent crossing technique. Both Kaebi and Heydari see the strikers in the box, but only Heydari has the means to get the ball there exactly most of the time.

I found kaabi was quite poor in 1-on-1 situations and he just couldnt get past his mark when his run was blocked.

haydari recently has shown he CAN dribble better and find a way through in 1-on-1 situations

I just can't get over the subs Ghotbi made!
Khalatbari, why the **** did he come so late, honestly he has been Iran's best player in form along with Neko.
Khalili-What has this guy done to even deserve to be in TM list let alone be replaced by Hash or current IPl top scorer Borhani?
Why would you replace your lone striker with another one when you desperately need a goal, why not take out a midfielder and add a second striker?
you don't need to have A+ coaching license to know these do you?!!!

Other than these I think TM played very well in 1st half but in coach's half, the difference between the 2 coaches was made clear!

Martin jaan I was talking about Kaebi on offensive aspects .

Well Heydari's vision much better than Kaebi's on offensive grounds. Kaebi hasn't made a single good cross, while Heydari makes at least 4-5 good crosses every game.
