Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Head of Iran Football Federation (HFF) Ali Kafashian says that Mohammad Khakpour’s contract will not be renewed.

Khakpour’s current contract expires at the end of the 2016 AFC U23 Championship and Kafashian announced that the federation will not extend his contract.

Former Iran international defender Mohammad Khakpour was appointed as Iran U23 coach in last year’s December.

The Iranian team was knocked out of the 2016 AFC U23 Championship on Friday, losing to Japan 3-0 in the quarter-final round.

Iran has defeated Syria and China in Group B but lost to host Qatar 2-1.

“We are not going to renew Khakpour’s contract. We thank him and wish him all the best,” Kafashian said.

Contract of Iran technical manager Mohammad Mayelikohan will not be extended as well.
