PFDC – LIEGE, After coming on as late substitute in his league debut against Gent last week (0-0), Reza Ghoochannejhad started for his new club Standard Liege on Friday evening.

The 25-year-old striker played 79 minutes in the 2-0 win over Kortrijk and showed a good performance.

Although not directly involved in either goal, the Iranian international impressed with a high work rate and good passing, creating two great chances in first half which unfortunately were wasted.

Ghoochannejhad could have scored his first goal for the Belgian giants shortly before being substituted when ge got past the last defender, but his close-range effort lacked precision, also because he was pulled back and stepped on his feet by his marker, who nevertheless could stop the powerful striker.

However, star of the match was the Iranian’s young striking partner Batshuayi, who scored the first goal after a pass from veteran midfielder Van Damme before beautifully creating Van Damme’s 2-0.

The win at least temporarily helped Standard to the fourth place in the standings.
