Queiroz1TEHRAN TIMES – TEHRAN, Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz said that the Iranian players misunderstand the meaning of fair play.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of Traktorsazi and Esteghlal match on Sunday in Iran Professional League, Queiroz said, “When a team uses counter attack tactic, no player is disallowed to play-act. In the match, I saw a Traktorsazi player was forced to kick the ball off while he had a good chance (to secure the goal) since Esteghlal keeper (Mehdi Rahmati) fell down after colliding with his teammate.”

“In my opinion, the Traktorsazi player didn’t have to stop the match. Just the referee can stop the match and any player has not the right to do that,” the Portuguese added.

“The Iranian players try to deceive the referees. They pretend they are injured and stop the match but look better after some seconds. It hurts football and in the worldwide competitions such as World Cup has a negative result,” Queiroz stated.
