PFDC – SAINT PETERSBURG, Iran’s U19 ended the Commonwealth Cup of independent nations in Russia on a high note, defeating Lithuania’s U21 4-0 in the playoff for fifth place on Sunday.

Iranian teenage star Sardar Azmoun, like in every game with exception of the goalless draw on matchday one, got his name on the scoresheet and finished as the Cup’s topscorer with seven goals out of six matches.

Despite the very unlucky quarterfinal loss after penalties to Latvia, Iran had an astonishing tournament, scoring 16 goals while only conceding one.

Hosts Russia eventually won the Cup, defeating Belarus in the final.
