seeing him in recent years has been so sad. Unfortunately he was in pretty bad shape and could hardly walk, made no sense when he spoke, etc. Its hard to see somebody who was so legendary become a completely different, unrecognizable person right before your eyes.

may he RIP. The greatest to ever do it.

Luego del partido del sábado en el Luna Park, Maradona recibió en el vestuario al encargado de negocios de la embajada de Irán. Allí lo invitaron a visitar Teherán y hay muchas posibilidades de que el viaje se concrete.

He was/is the closest Iran has come to a WC winner! The hair, the eye brows, the stature, the skin tone. If he was a little hairier, he and Mahdavikia would nearly pass as twins!

So Sad, he was a true Pioneer of the sport.

Will never forget his amazing Solo-Goal and "Hand of God"-Goal.

The last (and first) time I saw him in person, June 25, 1994, Foxboro Stadium, World Cup group play vs Nigeria.

I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

Some memorable (but not neccassarilly flattering) quotes about him. The first 2 were published in Keyhan after the 1986 World Cup final although I highly doubt the second one is real.

Zico: من اسطوره ها را نمیشناسم. آیا او یک اسطوره است؟

Pele: Something along the lines of I learned the game by running barefoot in the sand at the beach and kicking garbage while he grew up rich and had the best gear and coaches.

And a random Argentine taxi driver after Maradona tested positive during the 1994 World Cup: We are a nation of 30 million idiots for once again putting our faith in Maradona.

I absolutely agree, he was somehow a fusion of Khodadad Azizi and Mahdavikia.

I saw him score against England live. He won the game by himself. What a legend. He will never be forgotten.

May he rest in peace. :-(
