Mehdi's situation was a bit different to our other athletes who refuge to other countries. He married this beautiful Serbian taekwondo athlete and since he had been living in Serbia for a few years he directly asked permission from Iran's Taekwondo federation to represent Serbia. Anyway his career was over after Rio, he hasn't achieved anything since.
From 2014 to 2016 we had the 2 best Taekwondo athletes in the world. Khodabakhshi and Ashouzadeh were so good that they had received nicknames "The terminator" and "Tsunami" respectively. I don't know what the hell suddenly happened to them in the Olympics. I was expecting gold from both!

Ahh that’s interesting I did not know that! I remember farzan ashourzadeh too, #1 in the world and favorite and lost in the first round to some Moroccan scrub

Believe it or not if he qualifies he even has a shot for medal in Tokyo. Keikha has even patented moves in Pommel Horse to his name.

A terrible news has just came out. Iran's #1 gold medal chance in the Olympics has tested positive for doping. Apparently it was a medicine given to him by his doctor.

There will be a 29 person refugee team in the Olympics. 5 Iranians have been selected to be included in this team including Kimia Alizadeh (Taekwondo) and Javad Mahjoub (Judo).

Really happy to see Kimia in the Olympics again.

2 iranian swimmers broke iranian record in Bulgaria. It seems it counts as olympic qualifiers but not sure if they qualified for Tokyo2020

Yeah really sad news. He had the exact same points as the Japanese but wasn't chosen only because the Jap had more 1st place positions in all competitions. Covid situation really screwed him as he had reached world cup final in early 2020 but the final was cancelled and the points not counted.
