wish we had some more young players to give experience. Sina Vahedi (20) is the only young guy on the roster. I hope he gets some solid minutes since we’ll likely be losing every game anyways. I’d rather watch a young player prove himself and show what he can do

Honestly our basketball team is much worse than the 2008 team and even the 2012 or 16 teams. Asia is so bad at basketball right now that we made it in a very weird qualification tournament.

Is Asgari’s doctor an idiot ?

He must be. But Bahman must have known better to check this with the federation doctors and anti-doping agency in such crucial time. Even though it is kind of understandable that one might not want to share about drugs of such personal nature.

As someone whose biggest passion in life in watching Iranian sports in international competitions, I have really been depressed since hearing about Bahman Asgari being suspended for doping last Friday. It has shocked Iranian sports. What the poor guy must be going through right now. Imagine being the #1 chance for gold medal for your country, with this Olympic being the only chance in a lifetime to have your sport Karate in this competition. Imagine having qualified for the games 18 months in advanced as number 1 in ranking and then having this chance taken away because his family Dr gave him some pills to help with fertility and told him they are not in the doping list of banned drugs and then he participated in a competition that he didn't even have to where they took the test. He was given a 1 year ban instead of the usual 4 because the decision committee accepted it was an unintentional act but that does no good for us.

This was even more upsetting than our #2 gold medal chance Sohrab Moradi getting injured in the final qualifying competition. With China not choosing Tian Tao as one of their 4 competitors this was probably the easiest weightlifting gold medal him or that silly Kianoush could have gotten in their careers.

Now let's all pray that nothing happens to Hassan Yazdani in the remaining month. He is the only remaining athlete in my view with 25%+ chance of winning the gold medal this year.

They gave the Olympic qualifications to a Japanese gymnast instead of the Iranian

Yeah really sad news. He had the exact same points as the Japanese but wasn't chosen only because the Jap had more 1st place positions in all competitions. Covid situation really screwed him as he had reached world cup final in early 2020 but the final was cancelled and the points not counted.
