I preferred another Asian team besides Iran to go to Olympics.

It has been a long journey and I watched all Iran and few other games. China deserved to be among four teams to go to Olympics.

So Iran will be grouped with poland, russia, Argentina, cuba and then one weaker team. so most likely iran will finish 1st-4th somehwere in this group and get to quarters. key is to avoid brazil in last 8th, they are tipped to win their group so a semifinal is in sight for this iran team

so canada is the 4th team, as china and aus both lost, since france lost, we are second and poland first i believe, is still good we finish above france world league champion and we beat poland , while aus lost 3-0 to poland 2nd team

I thought that if any team finishes top 3 the best asian team will go through as the 4th team as well even if an asian team finishes top 3!! so why did Canada go through and not Australia!

That used to be the law but they suddenly changed it before this tournament. All the asian teams were angered by the decision.

Nothing, but Asia got shafted.
Asia is the only continent that doesn't get its own qualification tournament and has to participate in these stupid qualifiers.

The 2015 Asian Championship in Iran was actually supposed to be the qualifier for Asia, but FIVB revoked that permission and that is why Iran sent its B team there instead.

we've got the easier group in Olympics. However, there is also a downside to this...

That means that the quarter-final, regardless of which place we end up, is going to be the toughest match for TM ever.

If they get past the quarter-finals, though, it would be a wonder and deserves big celebration. Top 4 in Olympics should be the goal.

I am happy no asian countries qualified. We can keep on improving while other with stagnate. it will make our future qualifications for Olympics, etc... easier

we have a better group, however we have to beat cuba, argentina and egypt, i am sure we can beat egypt and cuba, we play argentina 4 time in world league we can get a feel how good they are, and we have played russia, poland many times, i still believe our group is better than group 1

we already know how good argentina is, iran already played them twice i think after velasco took over argentina

May I ask why you're so happy that no Asian countries qualified? Just curious
