But serious, If we assume that China will get full 6 points from their last two matches, they will be on 14 points, they have 8 now. We have 10, and if we assume we will get the 3 points from Venezuela, we MUST get 2 points from the Poland match to reach 15 points and be the top ranked Asian team!

If we win against China and get 3 points (3:0 or 3:1) we will be 4 points ahead of them and could advance with a 3-2 victory against Venezuela.

Yes, number of victories is first criterion, then points. Poland as of game FIVE is ranked first although France has more points.

Not impressed by Lozano, too many useless subs at crucial moments in game, taking out two of world best players in Marouf and Mousavi and replacing them with Mahdavi and Mirazajanpour when Iran has game momentum and he kills it this way. Mousavi does too many errorson jumping serve, that is the coach job to remind him and ask him to have a simple serve. Zarif also had another horrible game but it took the coach 5 sets to realize that and replaced him with Maradni, also first time i see a team played more than half set without Libero(in 5th).

Overall that was poor show by Iran, only Shahram Mahmoudi and Gholami had a decent game. The team is far from their shape back to 2-3 years a go

To be fair Lozano joined the team very late and is only now getting familar with how the players react in high pressure situations. Biggest issue TM has is mental fragility. Lozano is good at this and I am sure he will turn the team around if we make it for the Olympics.
Let's not forget after Kovac there was a very bad mood and attitude in TM. Its already getting better. Key is to peak just in time for the Olympics.

Also since when did China get so good? They were nowhere to be seen for the past 5 years and all of a sudden this year they're the 2nd best Asian team.

TM made way too many mistakes again
TM did not play well actually but on pure skill alone we can beat most Asian teams even on a bad day?

Anyways good win.
They should try and beat Poland and hopefully wont be complacent versus Venezuela. I think one more win and Iran should clinch qualification.

Adel Gholami was the man of the match. He single handedly brought us back to the game in the 5th set. We are now 99% in the Olympics.
