What does any of this have to do with Albania or Albanians flying an ISISesque flag over a football game?!

Kosovo is NOT a part of Albania nor has it ever been. It has been through a roller-coaster of ethnic majorities in the past two centuries including periods in which Serbs were a majority - now Albanians are a majority.

Let me make it even simpler for you... This situation is no different than Iraqi Kurdistan becoming an independent state in the next few years, instigating a violet uprising in Kordestan and Kermanshah, those provinces eventually breaking off of Iran and claiming independence and then Kurdish fans flying a flag of "greater Kurdistan" that includes not only Kurdistan, Kordestan and Kermanshah, but the remaining parts of Iran in Azadi stadium during an Iran-Kurdistan football match!

You just like to make Albanians sound like angels 'cause they're predominantly Muslim with no consideration to the fact that may of them are carrying out the same atrocities or even worse than what the Serbs ultra-nationalists did as fighters for and leaders of ISIS and Al-Qaeda. I'm sorry, but I just don't subscribe to this one sided judgement of people like you do based on their ethnic origins or creed - there are good and bad Albanians, just like there are good and bad Serbs or good and bad Iranians or Arabs or...

First of all, why do you keep calling it an ISIS type flag? What does ISIS have anything to do with anything here. It seems like you're playing the religion card not me.

Second, Albania is only around 50% Muslim and this has nothing to do with my views on religion. Let's get that out of the way. Croatia is a majority Catholic country and I would feel the same way if they did this. Is it fair for me to say that your hatred of Muslims is fueling your view?!

Kosovo is 90% Albanian. Many of the players on Albania's team are originally from Kosovo. I mean do we really need to discuss why people in the region dislike Serbia?! I mean really?!

Your example is not valid. Let me give you a valid example. Saddam tried to ethnically cleanse the Kurds. If the Kurds one day flew a Kurdistan flag over a stadium in Baghdad, that would be the same.

You can replace Iraq with Turkey and use the same example. Kurds at a minimum have had their rights stripped and at a maximum have been the recipients of ethnic cleansing policies by both Iraq and Turkey. Iran has never attempted to cleanse the Kurds. So if the Kurds did that in Baghdad or Istanbul, I would be laughing my @ss off.



Serbia has been the aggressor in the region, not Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and the list goes on and on.....

So it's an awesome F U to their aggression by flying that flag. The Albanians really lifted the bar on trash talk.

And you know who the only people are that are upset about what the Albanians did? Serbs and you. Why? because people tend to root for the little guy not the bully.

Yugoslavia was a failed state. When the break up happened these countries came out of it:

Croatia
Bosnia i Herzegovina
Slovenia
Serbia
Kosovo
Montenegro

Guess which newly independent states Serbia laid claim to? ALL OF THEM!

Kosovo was already an independent territory in Yugoslavia, along with the others. Serbia had and has ZERO claim to Kosovo. They failed in preventing the other states from gaining independence and went as far as ethnic cleansing, but they were able to prevent Kosovo.

Why do you think it took until 2008 for them to gain independence?! Have you heard of the Gazimestan speech by Milosevic? Serbs did all they could to prevent it, they were occupying the territory. Do you remember George Bush going to Kosovo and getting his watch stolen? Why do you think he went?

Kosovo is 92% Albanian. What claims do Serbs have to that territory? Yugoslavia did not ≠ Serbia.

It would be like Russia laying claim to Armenia or Georgia.

Yes, I'm aware of what led to the Yugoslav wars (I think that's what you're referring to as the Balkan wars happened at the beginning of the 20th century) and I place 95% of the blame on Serbian ultra-nationalists, but that doesn't mean Serbians tried to take parts of Albania, nor does it excuse the actions of the Albanians in instigating unrest and armed insurgency in Kosovo.

Nor does any of that mean that all Serbs are scum or they can be judged on the actions of a few bad apples in their government or among their fans, any more than we can be judged based on the actions of IR, or the Iraqis can be judged on the actions of Saddam or the Germans on the actions of Hitler or Palestinians on the actions of Hamas, and...

I also heard it while I was watching the match live. They didn't even allow the national anthem to be played peacefully.

Because a lot of what you are saying seems very strange and I would be very surprised if you came to these conclusions on your own. Are you not aware of how the Balkan wars started or what happened in the years leading up to Kosavo's independence?

That said, how is it OK for fans to rush on the field and attack players? I highly doubt that if something similar happened in Iran people would do the same. For one, the police would not allow it, unlike the Serb police. And two, how is it the players fault?

In the middle of all this some crazy fans tried to burn a Bahrain flag and protest because of the govt attacks on Bahraini protesters. The people and police did not allow it and the fans were kicked out

Some should read about history before judging Serbia as a country. Not talking about fans behaviour that's something different.

What happened in former Yugoslavia is the balcan version of what is happening in Iraq and Syria with our IS/ISIS/ISL
Seperatists and terrorists got armed up, trained and supported from US.
Now you have a plenty ass poor corrupt balcan countries struggeling at any level.

They better find out which scumbag was flying that drone, as it seems it started the riots which led to cancellation of the match.

Some Balkan press say the Albanian President's brother was arrested at the stadium with a remote control. But could just be rumors.

But really the police and Serbian officials are the ones to be blamed. How did they allow for all those bottles, rocks and flares to be thrown at players? How could they allow Serb Nazis on the pitch? I mean it is just crazy that this was allowed to happen.

Funny, my understanding of the situation is the exact opposite... First of all, when did Serbia try to take part of Albania?

Secondly, the animosity between the two countries stemmed from Albania instigating unrest in Kosovo for separatism during the Yugoslav wars. That's exactly what Saddam was doing in Khuzestan both pre and post revolution.

And if anything the Albanians came on top by eventually splitting Kosovo from Serbia and all that is in the past and both countries have full diplomatic relations now.

On that note, I find waving an extremist victory flag that says we'll come and get the rest of your lands from you, during a football game out of all times, played in Serbia out of all places, a rather distasteful and disgraceful expression of a political agenda, which has no place in a sporting arena.

And none of the articles I read mentioned anything about death chants or stones or flares being thrown before the drone entered the stadium.
