    New interview

    https://tribune47.com/itw-mohammad-a...nnats-deurope/

Found it interesting that him and his agent have previously said they’re targeting the 2025 NBA draft but here he basically said either 2024 or 2025 so he’s definitely considering making the leap earlier (as a 19 year old). His performance at the World Cup surely played a role into this as he’s definitely on the radar of some scouts now.

if anything, he can declare for 2024 and work out for some teams and then withdraw before the deadline after getting some feedback from teams

He’s off to a great start in the u21 French league this season averaging 20.3 points (2nd in league), 8.8 rebounds (7th in league), 4.7 assists (10th in league), 3.8 steals (2nd in league) for an efficiency rating of 26.11 (league leader by significant margin as 2nd highest is 22.10). It’s pretty clear he’s the best player in the French u21 league (and he’s doing it just as an 18 year old) and as mentioned in the interview, he’s been training with the senior squad and should gradually earn more senior team minutes

He needs more playing time in senior leagues before the big jump

Ideally yes but it’s not a huge deal if it doesn’t happen. There have been many players who’ve entered the league straight from lower level competition than the u21 league in France. He also already has senior international experience at the highest level and showed he can more than hold his own against senior players

would definitely be nice though if he can get more playtime soon. If I had to guess, he’ll get consistent minutes off the bench in the 2nd half of the season since they should create a big enough gap for the league standings by then and decide to rest their key players more to focus on euroleague

I wonder what is our other prospects doing (Heydari?). One day, we should really beat the other asian teams (Lebanon, Philipinnes, Jordan, Kazakhstan..) without any problems..

Thanks for the updates guys. I really appreciate it.

Any other decent prospects for our basketball?

Now that Haddadi is retired and guys like Kazermi are getting up there too, we need replacements.

As long as they don't bring in their foreign imports, we can handle most of them.

The problem is that they do it, so we should improve more

                  Interview with NBAdraft.net

At the end he was asked if college basketball was an option and he didn’t really seem to dismiss it so I wonder if that might be an option for him. Could be an opportunity to get more visibility with scouts

Monaco signed him to a new contract through 2026 and the expectation is that he’ll begin to get more time with the senior team for the remainder of the season.

Played a few minutes at the end of their last game and scored a nice basket

Scored 6 points in 5 minutes for the Senior side in a blowout win. Had this nice play for a dunk

He just needs a good agent. The Achilles heel of our professional athletes has been good agents. Look at Arsalan Kazemi, they guy gets drafted and decides to go back to iran and play in iran instead of trying Europe
                            IRI = FAILED

The agent is important but for Arsalan he never would’ve made the NBA due to his skillset. He could’ve tried Europe but honestly probably wouldn’t have been very good there either.

Amini’s game and skillset actually fits the modern NBA as a big physical guard. Just needs to continue improving his shooting and he has a future in the NBA. If he has the skillset, he will be drafted and signed in the NBA regardless of his agent. His agent already helped him with what’s most important in getting out of Iran and signing for one of the premier Euroleague teams.

If he continues on this path, Amini should be able to secure legit minutes on the senior team next year and will be adequately scouted. Should be in line for the 2025 Draft as him and his agent had originally set as their target

He got to start for the senior team in their last game as they were resting some guys for the Euroleague playoff game

Put in a strong performance with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists on 50% FG and 50% 3P in a loss.

projected 1st round draft pick in this years draft (Tidjane Salaun) was playing for the other team and Amini significantly outperformed him (although they weren’t directly matched up against each other)

All signs point towards Amini being a part of Monaco’s rotation next season, giving him the platform to further build up his stock for the 2025 draft. Just turned 19 two weeks ago.
