Most painful football experience of my life after Iran - Ireland. Such a shame for Terry, I really feel for him. He gave it his everything this season and he's been fantastic and it's such a shame for him to miss a penalty because of a slip.
To those who say ManU had a better game, it was a very even game, if anything, Chelsea had way more chances (shots on goal, free kicks, crossbar). But in the end it had to be Penalties and basically a coinflip.
Oh well, if anything good comes out of this, hopefully Grant will be replaced. He should've brought Sheva on for Drogba in extra time, he was invisible from the second half onwards apart from the shot that hit the post. And Kalou should've started instead of Malouda.

all i want is man utd fans give credit where its due and not claim chelsea's goal was fluky and accept the fact that this game, luck was on man utd side but credit to man utd for making use of it. afterall, fortune favours the brave
and yea, the 1999 final, again that game, the opponent(WE) hit ur post twice but in the end and we were the better side, but u guys won! so yessss..im still pissed and will always be!!!
You cant get luck on your sides until you are brave enough to look it in the eye and challenge it I think it was just destiny for us in 1999 CL final to win on what was Sir Matt Busby's 90th birthday. Same in 1968 after 10 years of Munich air crash, and now 2008 after 50 years of the tragedy

I feel sorry, and feel giggly , for Ballack though, he has become "Mr Runners Up" way too much (Bayer in 2002, Germany in WC2002, Chelsea in 2007 and 2008)

If it was bad luck, then Chelsea had it coming having been through a CL campaign where they faced such mighty sides as Schalke and Rosenborg and this season's over acheivers Fenerbahche (like Monaco of 2003/04), before finally getting tested against Liverpool in the semis - and a LUCKY own goal by Riise just to put emphasis on luck. While United had to deal with Roma 4 times, Lyon and Barcelona to reach the final.
Also, Chelsea were riding their share of luck this season - cant believe how THAT was a penalty on some dodgy handball call on Carrick at Stamford Bridge when Ballack stepped up and scored the winner against us to slash the gap. Yes poor luck meant that hitting the wood twice costed them goals, but were Chelsea the better side throughout for 120 minutes ? No. It was a game of two halves. United should have been 3-0 up before a pin-ball machine deflections and a slip from Van Der Sar allowed Lampard to get a goal. Same with Chelsea, Drogba's ambitious shot could have made the difference, and Lampard's shot could have also, and Terry's miss in the penalties could have won the Cup for them.
But sooner or later your luck runs out.
Tough luck, we faced the same damn bad luck in 2005 FA Cup final against Arsenal where we hit the wood god knows how many times for 120 minutes - and Arsenal's first shot on target was a lame freekick straight at Roy Carroll by Van Persie in 2nd half of extra time, only to finally lose in penalties via just a missed kick by Scholes.
Shit happens, otherwise there is no fun or unpredictibility or lessons learned in life.
