Damn, South Africa is on fire. Holland got smashed for 353 runs off 40 overs, Herschelle Gibbs became the first player to hit 6 sixes in one over in a ODI. Mark Boucher set the fastest 50 in world cup history, from just 21 balls. And Holland still have to look forward to playing Australia
England don't look like they're going to trouble too many teams either, easily outclassed by NZ

Pakistan ARE knocked out of the World CupOriginally posted by FirestormHoly sh*t!! I wake up and check the scores only to find that India have been screwed by Bangladesh, and Pakistan are on the verge on being knocked out of the world cup by IRELAND of all teams!!! Incredible
Tournament is over. A team of super stars who think they are members of the Tableeghi Jamaat end up losing to near-amateurs of cricket in such a fashion that I cant stop laughing
You dont need talent to play in the Pak team, just a phone call - and this is especially true if you are a batsman
I can foresee the ENTIRE team being changed with all these old timers and underperformers being forced out and new faces (as well as Asim Kamal
) being brought back in.
Not that I'm complaining

It's the luck of the Irish, you had the misfortune of playing them on St Patrick's day. Though it took a big effort on their part to hold their nerve through the last few overs of the chase, it's exciting for cricket in general and they really deserve the win but at the same time you don't want to see the likes of Ireland and Bangladesh getting knocked around by the bigger teams in the super 8's.
And it was crazy seeing the Pakistani fans dancing in the stands when they heard that Bangla beat India, then a minute later they were looking glum again with their faces buried in their hands witnessing their side crash out. I mean this is the same team that embaressed South Africa in the warm up game a week ago losing to a team that barely qualified to their first world cup.
I think Darryl Hair can breath a sigh of relief now, Bob Woolmer just replaced him as the most hated man in Pakistan (after Musharaf and Bush).
Yeah I've noticed a few of the Pakistan players becoming increasingly religious in recent times, like that guy who grew a huge ass beard, Saeed Anwar i think. At the same time players like Shoaib Akhtar and Afridi are constantly get bashed by critics for paying too much attention to their image, which is "unislamic" in those critcs' mind. Though I was wondering about how Younis Yohana converted to Islam, was it out of true conviction or was he pressured into it by his peers?Originally posted by SuprahA team of super stars who think they are members of the Tableeghi Jamaat

I think it was a case of both for the former Yousaf Youhana. Saeed Anwar joined the Tableeghi Jamaat after the death of his daughter for spiritual salvation, turns out he became a preacher as well and that influenced the entire team because of his new found humbleness and devotion.Originally posted by FirestormThough I was wondering about how Younis Yohana converted to Islam, was it out of true conviction or was he pressured into it by his peers?
Maybe this factor and impression made the person now known as Muhammed Yousaf. Its his personal matter though, but that said Pakistan still has one Hindu in the team in the form of Danish Prabhashankar Kaneria, and he has apparently stuck to his roots, and I hope he does too, as too much religion I feel has turned from making the teams more focused and organised to more preacher type.
The influence of the Tableeghi Jamaat has backfired miserably.sigpic

What a tragic way to go, he deserved much better than that.
It's tough for any coach to see all their hard work come to nothing and their entire coaching career devastated after just 2 lousy matches, it's a very unforgiving job.
my condolences to his family, RIP Bob.
It's going to take a really long time for Pakistani cricket to get over this nightmare tour and rebuild from scratch.

True, but similar things were said after the 2003 fiasco as well. The way I see it, this will become a repetitive trend in the ridiculously farcical and flash-in-pan world of Pakistani cricket. This is the very reason why I left this game in the first place back in 2003, although the odd good moments did manage to bring me back to it for a short while, but at the end it was exactly that: a short while.Originally posted by FirestormIt's going to take a really long time for Pakistani cricket to get over this nightmare tour and rebuild from scratch.sigpic

I was soo shocked to hear this news when i got into work this morning. I must be honest however, i feel there is more to this story then meets the eye. Im not saying murder but is suicide at all possible? What do u boys feel
Good news however is that Australia is HOT. All our batsmen are performing and we beat Holland by a greater margin then S.Africa
Bowlers are also doing very well.
Cant wait till Aus v S.Africa

Well you can only hope. With the coach now dead and the captain retiring the knives will be out for the PCB management since somebody else has to take the blame, so maybe it'll bring on some radical changes to the way they administer the game. But what I also meant was that the emotional scars from Bob Woolmer's death will take a long time to heal, no doubt a few of the players will feel guilty thinking they let down the coach.Originally posted by SuprahTrue, but similar things were said after the 2003 fiasco as well. It's hard to tell, the official cause of death is that he suffered a cardiac arrest, but it won't be confirmed until an autopsy takes place.Originally posted by babak_australiaYeh...RIP.

Although when he was found dead he was lying on the ground in his own vomit and there were a few pills scattered on the bed-side table, so who knows it could've been caused by some kind of drug overdose. All hotels in Mumbai. The best selection of Mumbai hotels with reviews and maps. Book in advance and save.
'The most probable cause of death would be cardiac arrest,' said Hem Persaud, a forensic pathologist, 'this condition is mainly due to stress and in this case the expectations that were attached.'
The odd thing is that he didn't seem overly upset in the press conference immediately after the game, he was telling reporters that life goes on and they'll just have to learn from their mistakes. But on his way to the hotel he admitted to another journalist that his coaching career was probably over since no one would want to recruit him after that. It's a real shame.

Young cricket fan dies after India's World Cup defeat
Patna, March 19: A 17-year-old boy in Bihar died of a heart attack soon
after India's shocking defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the cricket
World Cup, media reports said Monday.
Ramparvesh Rai, 17, an emotionally-charged student and a die-hard
cricket fan, died Sunday after India lost to Bangladesh Saturday.
"India's defeat cost my son's life. He was so shocked that his heart
stopped beating minutes after the winning stroke by Bangladeshi batsman
Mushfiqur Rahim," said Ramparvesh's father Sita Ram Rai, a resident of
Adalpur village in Samastipur district, about 70 km from here.
"He could not digest the defeat as he fell unconscious and on the way to
the hospital he died of a massive heart attack," Sita Ram Rai said.
According to Rai, he and his family were watching the India-Bangladesh
match live on national broadcaster Doordarshan.
"He was upset after the poor performance of the Indian batsmen," a
tearful Rai said.
