He is one of our best players and performed admirably at the WC. One of only 3 TM players who actually performed at WC22... despite his age.

He is not a "standard player" in Greece. He is well regarded and a regular starter in one of Greece's best teams who are current league champions. Previously he has played for another top Greek team, Olympiacos.

He has already played a UEFA Champions League game this season.

He has been picked as a TM player by no fewer than 5 coaches including the very fickle CQ. He has played for TM since 2008 in 129 games.

Fifa.com describes him as "one of the most sought after players in Asia".

He has a long record of scoring long distance shots/winning goals.

He is also a team leader and one of the few brave enough not to kiss akhoond ass. Brave enough to support Mahsa Amini movement outwardly at the WC and play against an Israeli opponent too.

The man is a proven winner all around and we have to stop this Iranian trait of dissing our best.

This all the way. Haj Safi is getting old but he is by far one of the pillars of team melli. He might be a slow "avg" player now in his old age, but he has a lot of wisdom and experience as captain of the team, just watch how during all 3 world cup matches he was constantly communicating with players/telling them to stay in position/diffusing the situation when Beiro got his nose broken, trying to rally the team.

Seems they shifted hajsafi into CM role for last 20 mins. Probably not a bad position for him to play in TM either with emergence of jalali as more orthodox, faster LB.
