Actually his record shows that he is kind of average, but for Iran he as perfect. We needed him on and off the field. Again, its all about the right match..
Egyptian fans loved him and were begging for him to come back.

Columbia finished in 6th place and didn't even make the World Cup playoffs - they have a ton of talent but didn't find their groove after CQ either. He was not the problem.

Picking a coach isnt about the name but the right match. I dont Think iranians understand that, or many people on this board. They Think a Big name means good results. But there is 1000 other things in that equation. In 2008 when Barca needed a New coach, they held talks with 2 people: Mourinho a proven winner everywhere we had Been, and a no name Pep Guardiola who only had experience from Barca B. They chose Pep because he was the right match for Barcelona, and the rest is history.

Im not saying Skocic was the right match. Maybe he was, maybe he wasnt. But he never really Got the chance to win over the people because people disregarded him from the beginning. And thats just the Way many iranians are. Passion over Logic. You see it on this Forum too. Many passionated TM fans, who love their team, but has absolutely no clue about football. Like zero Ball knowledge, which is fine. Everybody has a knowledge about something, you cant know about everything.

Over and over again we will hear we are Iran we have to be real and they are this...Never mind that we tied a packed Scotland team at the beginning of our football. NVM that we tied Argentina before, beat Brazil in the Olympics, have a history of playing strong teams and not getting shishtayid or even embarrassed like we don't belong on the same field. Our most embarrassing performances actually are those performances everybody hails as achievements. The CQ crowd and the anti CQ crowd we are not the same.
This is a post of year candidate. For those who believe we have no football pedigree before CQ or will ever have it after him.

Baba Cq left us for Colombia in midst of AC. He is done with us. It's like we are suffering fro battered partner syndrome! Let the man go. Thank him for his time and wish him all the best including how he spends his money from us as we made him one of the highest paying coaches during WC. Time to move on!

Performances against Spain and Portugal were not so impressive given the fact neither of those teams advanced beyond the round of 16? Are you mad? That's because it's knockout football. Spain lost to a home nation on penalties after completely dominating the game. Look at the possession, shots and xG stats The same happened to Portugal but to a lesser extent as Uruguay were more clinical with their chances in 90 minutes... they had Cavani and Suarez.

Skocic has prime Azmoun and Taremi and we play like we have in all of those qualifiers. It's embarrassing.

Spain's D team would look better than ours on paper and be favourites. Portugal were European Champions, won the Conference league the year after the WC and outside of having one of the greatest players that's ever played the game also had a full squad of players playing in top leagues who man for man were worth more than our players.

Our squad values at the 2018 World Cup according to Transfermarkt - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/worl...ettbewerb/WM18

Their squads were worth 10 TIMES what ours was!

Our most capped players were Hajisafi (94), Shojaei (74) and Ansarifard (64)
    Portugal - RONALDO (150), Joao Moutinho (110), Bruno Alves (96), Pepe (95)
    Spain - RAMOS (152), DAVID SILVA (121), INIESTA (127), BUSQUETS (103), PIQUE (98)

With that disparity in footballing ability and experience in mind, it's mad that we drew with Portugal (almost beat them at the end) and lost by 1 goal to Spain (failing to equalise by a few cms)... and people want to question the ability of those 2 teams given their progress in the rest of the tournament. Find another pro-Skocic narrative fellas.

What a great news! It is too late but we still have a slim chance. Who is going to be our new manager? I hope they go after someone like CQ not necessarily ultra defensive but someone who can organize our defense well and fill up the huge gaps.

    100 percent

I always say the main issue is realism, let alone pragmatism.

Doctor Doom says he appreciated Queiroz but I remember the posts from CQ taking over the diseased soil and making it fertile again. They weren't particularly appreciative... Even towards the end, many of his criticisms were just not borne out of reality.

That's what it boils down to for me personally. It's the same kind of stance of Doctor Doom saying two months ago that Iran has no less talent in its squad than Senegal

We are very reactionary. I again suggest folks read comments about CQ during S.Africa camp. It mirrors the witch hunt Skocic endured. Don't forget the Keyroshipour fiasco. It's shameful. We all want wins without recognizing it requires time, patience, growing pains, and dedication from all involved including fans and media.

And right now TM is somewhere that i dont see any future if Dragan stayed because it has become so far that players open their mouth, you should be that big as a coach that no player can open his mouth.

That's unfortunate...and I agree. But it's also "little coaches" that often have a lot to prove in WC and make history.

Blazevic had won nothing before Croatia 98 3rd place. Aime Jaquet won it in 98 in France. Before that he only coached in France and didn't win anything. His win percentage at club level was often below 40%. Delic in Croatia finished second in 2018 WC. Before that coach on Persian Gulf teams. No real success prior. WEAKER resume than Skocic by far! Remember Pinto he topped a group with Italy, England, Uruguay with Costa Rica. Before that he largely coached S. AMERICAN and Central American club teams with a mediocre record. Who can forget Solari in 94. Took Saudi to second round. His coaching resume including teams in Japan and smaller clubs in the Americas. No NT experience at all before Saudi. He had won at the Peruvian local club level only.

These are just top of my head. There are so many other examples of "little coaches" who do well in WC. Lots to prove.
