Algeria B, Uruguay, Senegal, Nicaragua, Tunisia was a good preparation considering the circumstance.

Unfortunately we started the WC with England which is the stronger team we face since decade. Playing Wales and USA before england would have prepared to face England in the last game.

    Some mistakes we made :

    - using lot of useless players in all these friendlies to finally understand they are TM material (Noorafkan, Sarlak). PFDC members were saying it from day one!
    - Not using what was functionning in these friendlies and wcq (Ezza at DM, Kanaani +Shoja at CB). Playing straight some players that were on the fridge wince 4 years ago (PAG, Cheshmi, AK).
    - the line up destabilize more ourselves that England.

He did however name Iran as a possible surprise team in the World Cup (just after the draw in April). That was interesting to hear because most other pundits on ESPN only talked about the US game against England. They barely mentioned Iran as one of the opponents.

He wrote an article which was 90% political and mostly had talking points from some guy named Pashaei who wants Iran banned from all sports.

Nabi said that we will play a Persian Gulf team a few days before leaving for Doha. I guess this will be without the european players.

Based on CQ's previous 2 world cups, wouldn't be surprised if we have a very light, behind closed doors friendly against a "weaker" opponent, before the first game.
Issue though is that clubs don't have to release players until 1 week before the World Cup, so who knows if we will even get that last friendly, if half the squad won't be there.

Ya. I doubt this will happen too after CQs interview. For the best imo.

Unless FIFA has previously put out an official statement (about member states playing against Russia) or do so in near future, then IFF will need to cancel the game, otherwise they can go ahead.
Probably that is exactly why the game is timed later in November.....

Match with Russia likely in Tehran in November. Russia will also play Kyrgyzstan. I hope they got fifa approval otherwise this is a bad move.

TEHRAN, Sep. 07 (MNA) – The Russian men’s national football team have announced upcoming friendly matches against Kyrgyzstan and Iran, with the latter likely to take place in Tehran, according to Russian football federation.

OMG, they friendly against Russia is reported in Swedish Media as well.

Sedan invasionen i Ukraina har det ryska herrlandslaget inte spelat några landskamper. Nu har Ryssland bokat in två matcher i höst – mot Iran och Kirigizistan.
