We do have serious problems though! People here are deluding themselves if they think that Iran's depth in defence is at a level which is competitive.

We have sent so many forwards to the Bundesliga and other places - even likes of Khatibi, Mousavi, Yazdani etc... have had some good experiences, yet the only defender who has consistently performed is Rahman Rezaei in Serie A.

Once people appreciate the actual reality of our football in those positions, then maybe they would appreciate the performances in the last two world cups (in comparison with predictions) under Carlos Queiroz.

Maybe then, folk like Doctor DOOM wouldn't say that Iran doesn't have anything less than Senegal, when one of Senegal's central defender is currently valued more than Iran's squad put together, and their goalkeeper isn't too far behind....


Just being realistic seems to be a challenge.... This is the crux of the issue with not appreciating what we achieved under Queiroz.

Yes, we need to be more in touch with reality here. When it comes to the quality of our players and team.

Like you said, what we achieved under cq is AMAZING considering our squad wasn't even CLOSE to being on par with the other teams in our group.
