on the bright side, if he sticks around till Jan, he can and SHOULD pad up his goal/assist stats as much as possible.
That only helps attract better suiters in Jan.
The last thing he shd do is get demoralized at this point.

He can sign as a free agent in January which means he could 1. Get better offers 2. Get a higher salary. All he needs to do is score left and right up until Jan and I'm sure he will. Also we get to see him against two of the best teams in Europe in the upcoming weeks.

He scored left and right in Russia league since 2/3 years. Scored against big european names both in UCL and EPL. The only interest he got was from team like Lyon, leverkusen, Napoli. No reason barcelona or such to wake up in 4 months.
Taremi scored against both Juve and Chelsea. One of the goal was seen worldwide. No club moved the little finger for him. We should accept, our players are invisible to most of the football planet, even when they do good things. the worst is that our players are extremely bad scouted. Without Peter bosz and Azmoun "italian" agent, we wouldn't even have all these last rumors!

And worst of the worst, if he pick a nasty injury, no Lyon no Zenit either next year.

If anyone expects something to happen in the winter window you’re out to lunch. We’re gonna have to wait till next summer and no, signing for a club bigger than Bayer and Lyon at that stage will not be smart. He’s gonna need time to cement himself in the lineup at any big club and going through all that just months before the World Cup is terrible

Best case now is Bayer or Lyon next summer and that’s that.

Agreed. Can you imagine what happens if he takes a nock before the transfer window? At that point OL will be a dream and Rubin Kazan will be the likely destination the way this has played out. I doubt Sardar genuinely wants or will be allowed to leave Russia.

hes free to negotiate with teams in january, starting jan 1st he can sign and officialize any agreement that will kick in when contract officially expires in the summer.

I can only think the main reason he didnt get desperate for move is bc he knows he still holds all the cards.

His current performance level is even better than last year. He has the CL games. He probably had negotiations with other teams that said we are more likely to move when you are free agent. So he was happy with lyon, leverkusen but not ready to refuse to play for those moves to go through.

We will see in the next few months if his decision pays off.

I also think zenit are super pissed/surprised with him. Apparently the payrise they offered was considerable and even included a pretty reasonable release clause, and he still rejected.

Maybe if he does something special in the CL, more clubs will be interested. I'm very excited to see him against Juve and Chelsea. Juve at the moment has big problems in the offensive, especially since CR7 is gone. Maybe if he shows a good performance and Juve continues having this weak phase, they are going to make a bid for him.
Just remember Haaland when he played for Salzburg. Nobody knew him at that time but he scored a few goals in the CL and suddenly many top teams wanted him.

Haaland was on the radar of clubs before his move to Salzburg due to him scoring, if i remember correctly, 8 goals in a Norway youth team international game. Plus his dad was also a famous footballer in England (mainly because of Roy Keane).

Anyway I am digressing there. Sardar has already shown he can do it in Champs League, Europa League. Jerome Boateng’s backside is testament to that.

If, as some members here are saying, he can sign an agreement with a new team as of Jan 1 as a free agent (with it going into effect when his current Zenit contract expires next summer), then there is no need to get desperate/desolate if the Lyon track falls through....Jan 1 is only 4 months away; along with some more goals at Zenit during this time, if/when he scores goals at the national team level during the qualifiers as well, that should be sufficient to illustrate to teams that he is in form and a major asset to join them next summer. 4 months will go by quick, so it's not all doom and gloom...

Let's be specific when we talk about the goals he has scored. I don't agree that they could be generalized as being easy goals against weak defense of RPL teams. Let's be specific. The last goal against CSKA Moscow was a beauty with two defenders trying to sandwich him. It was the product of great dribbling and clinical finishing. It is not all doom and gloom as many here try to portray the current situation. He just needs to learn that he should use his own initiative both on and off the pitch this year. He could also do a bit of scoring in the WC qualifying for TM to push his career forward (in addition to bringing joy to our hearts of course ). I think we keep getting upset because we expect at least a decent transfer and then when they don't happen we start bickering. Of course, that's a normal human response AND we are dealing with an extraordinary talent that requires extraordinary action. I stand for Sardar fo shine all year and land a great new contract in a much better league and club far west of Russia in Europe!

                        Go Sardar!

It seems Lyon coach decided he needed Quality not Quantity afterall..

maybe they come back for our body in Winter ? by then Zenit will be outa UCL and large enough lead top of RPL to see the championship through.... and definitely more negotiable on the transfer fee to offload Sardar ..?

                                PS
Im certain there are quiet a few EU clubs/top clubs who simply aren't in desperate need of immediate offensive upgrades and rather wait a year or so in order land a promising striker on FREE rather blowing 15mil (especially in One Lump Sum) on a player that they arent desperate to land..!
Lower profile EU clubs such as OL or Byer are the sorts who jump at these deals... because they know by next year, On Free, Sardar will likely have far more alluring choices and will be demanding and getting a much more lucrative pay-package to boot..!!
