The early subs of ARJ and Ezza says to me that they both definitely are starting the Bahrain game - two solid performances in there 60 mins on the pitch. Also good to see as these were two players with a point to prove after not being selected/injured for previous camps.

I think Skocic made the right substitutions. He’s doing well in that regard. Knowing who to switch in and out. You can tell Dragan wants to have Sardar and Mehdi as close to 100% as he can have vs Bahrain. There is a possibility Hashemian and Bagheri suggested they go 65-75% to avoid injury. We don’t know. But yeah, they didn’t do much today except Mehdi was clearly fouled inside the box and the referee clearly ignored it lol.

    I’m still confident and optimistic!

This performance was the best that IFF can pay for with Skocic. I'll be surprised if we make it to the next round.

Just count this game as a friendly, and it's a good thing we faced an easy opponent. The players didn't have to go through a rough game, and they played relaxed and it showed :-)

Another water break. Makes 2 for Bahrain and none for Iran. Our management should raise this issue!

It ill be interesting to see when playing against us, if Cambodia opts for the same open style play that they are displaying against Bahrain!?

Since we went to 442 they sit on top of each other and it makes defending them much easier when they are 5 metres apart in the box vs when they are doing different things in different parts of the pitch. If they cannot figure out their spacing it makes more sense to bring taremi to the left again (and he is essentially playing as a wide forward who arrives for sardar's flick ons) and put gholi to cam, ARJ on right.
Also, both Taremi and Azmoun had plenty of time to learn to work with their striking partners and not nearly enough in TM yet.

I think Beiro should be replaced with Abedzadeh against Bahrain. He has become slow and he will be very nervous against them due to the back to back losses in the 1st round.

    Bahrain is beatimg Comb 7-0

Cambodia 0:7 - calamitous defensive meltdown...

I wonder how much different TM would have performed if HK would have played as open as Cambodio does.

With HK's ultra defensive strategy, I think it's not possible to judge the real capacity of TM at this stage.

This could also be a positive going forward, because our oponents don't know either!

I think Taremi was tired. He actually did a lot of hard work (league and CL) with no break.

Azmoun also seemed less than 100% (and was wearing something on his leg, so he probably had a light injury). He should have been rested.
