We're always looking 2 steps ahead and we trip.

1. In 2004, we thought Iran was penciled in for the Asian Cup Final against either Bahrain or Japan
2. In 2007, we thought Sepahan would beat Urawa and face off against Milan in the Club World Cup
3. In 2007, we thought we thought we could go all the way in the Asian Cup only to salvage results against Uzbekistan and China
4. In 2015, we thought we had our place in the SF secure after being matched with Iraq
5. In 2018, we thought Persepolis would beat Kashima and play Real Madrid in the Club World Cup

There are many more examples but we just don't get it. We have a strong sense of entitlement for a team that has won nothing for a very long time.

CQ has the Arab teams number since he took over. I can't recall the last time we lost to an Arab team besides the BS Iraq loss

Do not forget that the games are played in UAE and they have the referees in their favor. A little bit of "jav sazi, anti-football" and later grass rolling may cause problems for us. I'd rather meet the Koreans and/or the Aussies actually.

Yes.

They are transitioning teams, but these players will be the core of the national teams going forward.
Japan got rid of many older players especially.

PRAY UAE loses to Qatar as if they beat QATAR, UAE FA with AFC will ensure they beat IRAN!! No way will they allow an Iran to lift the trophy on Arab soil hostile to IRan!!

What do they care about then? Cause they suck in world cup qualification and in the world cup as well.

at the end of the Korea-qatar match, I didn't see any emotions from the korean team. I remember seeing them cry hard when we beat them multiple times in WCQ games.

The Australian team showed some emotion but I think most of it was because they handed the game over to UAE on a silver platter.

Yes, Son was touted to kick SK into another gear in the knockout stages...but he was pretty invisible and the team crashed out with no more than a whimper

There is absolutely zero chance that Qatar beats the UAE.

Not at home, not in front of the home crowd, especially the royal family of the UAE (MbZ and others have been in attendance the last few games).

But... if a miracle happens and Qatar beats the UAE, the UAE authorities will 100% make it impossible for Qatar to win the cup. Could you imagine if the UAE authorities had to stand up for the Qatari national anthem? and hand out gold medals to Qatar? .. in the middle of this blockade. They would rather have Iran win it.


This is Iran's tournament to lose, of course barring bad luck and VAR.... I expect Iran vs UAE in the final.

Arabs will always hate us more. They will always choose their own over us. The only Arabs who did not choose Arabs are the heroes of Khorramshahr. Don't expect us be handed it that easily if we beat Japan and go onto the final.

What more can they do to Qatar? I mean they have banned their fans and blocked direct travel from Qatar to UAE (match against NK only had a handful of spectators), their media is not present, and they even denied initial entry to an AFC rep of Qatari citizenship. To me I could care less who makes it to the final because Japan Iran is the real highlight of the tournament. Which ever team that wins needs to take the final as whatever happens in the first 60 min will determine the winner because after that expect the arab teams to grass roll and play anti-football.
