Branko had so many options to take the penalties but chose to keep the best for the change room. This game was a disaster from the beginning. We had a great team that year and could have won the cup. Two things failed us, the coach and some of our players who did not have the mental strength. This loss was worse than losing to Iraq on penalties in 2015.

Karimi specifically asked Branko not to take the penalties. I guess he was not mentally prepared for it.

They do count up until 1998 as they were contested by full national teams and were on par with the Asian Championship.

lets hope boys got lots of practice in keeping their nerves under control and PK taking drills in gutter training camp...!! with our still rather defensive style of play and rather weak finishings we gonna are very likely to be put in PK situations in the KO rounds..!!
