The most significant one was 1990, but even that as i said Asian game even back to the team was considered as secondary tournament in Asian and now no one game a damn! Even during the 1990 asian games, most arab countries didn't come with full force or didn't participate during the Persian Gulf war between Iraq and Kuwait.
Those was minor trophies in Asia, but for us it was a big deal, specially in 90 because TM didn't won anything for years.

I was in Iran for them. By no means were they considered minor for us or others. Asian Games were not considered minor until it switched to a U23 tournament.

I don’t even think the Asian games were FIFA sponsored. But when this regime celebrates mediocrity then sure it’s important to them, whereas Japan, Korea, etc., look at real goals for winning the big tournaments and going far in the world cup. For the likes of advanced Asian nations getting second in the Asian Champions league is an actual loss but in Iran and in this case Persepolis 2nd was a “victory.”
